jag706 Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 Wasn't really sure where to tag this but here goes. What are the symptoms of bad reeds? What do you check for visually ? Just trying to understand what everything does so that it makes it that much easier in the case of troubleshootin' Quote
banshee tuner Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 One sign of bad reeds is eighther broken reed or one that will not close. You want your reeds closed when the bike is off and open as rpm's increase and pull a vacuum to open them. Hope this helps. Quote
jag706 Posted January 16, 2005 Author Report Posted January 16, 2005 Oh alright, so how would the 'shee react if they were damaged in any of those ways you described Thanx Quote
H250RHATER Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 it would run like shit for first it might not start depending on how many are broken on my quadzilla if it back fired it would brake them but i doubt the shee has enough compresion to do that u should get some v-force when u take it apart there worth the money they make u quick Quote
oldschool98 Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 if its runnin shitty and they dont close(as previeously mentioned) and are NOT cracked or missing any pieces, flip them over, i know you should replace them but its a cheap fix to keep you in the game while you v force are being shipped. i did that on my beater bike for 2 summers(97 blaster) just out of pure lazziness alone haha seriously V-FORCE' Quote
jag706 Posted January 17, 2005 Author Report Posted January 17, 2005 Ohhhhhhhh, alright then. Am starting to get it now , but my last question is buying V Force the brand name of the actual reeds like Boyseen or do you mean the whole cage ? Thanx guys Quote
bansheefreak Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 buddy of mine had a banshee suck a reed and spit it out the pipe... it was revving to the moon and when you put it in gear it would bog and hardly run... we was trying to get it back to camp at the dunes.... ohh yeah and the side that the reed broke was cold other side hot after we got back... KRMit Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 You have to buy the whole cage/reeds. Quote
H250RHATER Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 You have to buy the whole cage/reeds. 308032 yup Quote
jag706 Posted January 18, 2005 Author Report Posted January 18, 2005 Alright guys, I now have been properly schooled in Reeds - 101 Quote
. Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 at least get you some boyeson dual stage epoxy reeds (carbon fiber sucks in my opinion) and sometimes a reed will stick off fully closed a tiny little bit, as soon as the bike starts up it'll suck closed though Quote
Klotzban1 Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 buddy of mine had a banshee suck a reed and spit it out the pipe... it was revving to the moon and when you put it in gear it would bog and hardly run... we was trying to get it back to camp at the dunes.... ohh yeah and the side that the reed broke was cold other side hot after we got back... 307850 ....sorry didnt mean to laugh, its just the thought of a shee dislodging a tooth and Farting it out caught me off guard. I'm not gonna doubt it at all though. Strange things can happen at any given momment. Quote
