Leadfoot350 Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 I have heard of running a different chain and sprockets besides the 520 style. Has anyone tried using different chain and sprockets that are stronger. My sprockets wear out in about 5 weekends at glamis. What will fit the banshee? Quote
RNBRAD Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 Try the Sidewinder Ti-Moly rear with tool steel front. Pricey but will last. I wore my stock sprockets out after just a few trips. Still on the Sidewinders with no visible wear after a full summer at the dunes. Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted November 30, 2004 Author Report Posted November 30, 2004 I am not looking for a different brand. I am looking for a different set up than the 520. Quote
Rescuejeff Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 You can get 525 or 530 chain specially cut for you, but you will be paying about twice the cost. You should look in to Vortex sporkets. I have them on my bike and I have had them running two years with about 15 desert trips. Good luck Quote
SDD Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 Don't run aluminum rear sprockets. Any Stainless steel rear sprocket will last longer than a standard steel sprocket reguardless of brand. Quote
Tim C Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 (edited) Duncan Racing runs 530 chains on their Banshee that they race in the 12 hour Point de Vaux in France. Give them a try. Edited November 30, 2004 by Tim C Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted November 30, 2004 Author Report Posted November 30, 2004 Will the 530 fit right on? Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 the 530 setup weighs alot and takes more hp's to run. that's less hp to the tires. something to think about. Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted December 1, 2004 Author Report Posted December 1, 2004 never thought of that. Weight slows you down a lot. Quote
racer Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 its more moving mass to overcome. id sitck with a quality 520 o-ring. as for sprockets i buy primary drive cause they are dirt cheap. if you fuck up a rear, 14.99. if the front goes too thats 7 bucks. cheap sprockets and an expensive chain is the way i roll. Leadfoot350 Posted December 2, 2004 Author Report Posted December 2, 2004 I am just going to get a 15 front and a 45-46 rear then. I figure that more teeth will be able to spread out the power. Quote
RNBRAD Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Just buy the good stuff and you won't have to worry about it. Try some titanium sprockets. Quote

Leadfoot350 Posted December 4, 2004 Author Report Posted December 4, 2004 is 15-44 ok with you? Quote
