quadzillabill Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 In part thanks to all of you, I ended up getting the 03 Ltd Shee today. Its all stock except for a boost bottle on it, but needs some good general maintenance. I figure that after I give it a full mechanical checkup, oil change, plugs, lube/grease and a good wash I ought to start putting some mods on this thing. What are the top 5 easiest/most effective/most worthwhile projects I should take on first? Thanks, Q Quote
German Shepherd Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 22 inch pure sports bandit xc tires. rocket pipes with K&N filter and remove air box snorkel, also find a place to jet hot coat them, carbon tech or delta V force reeds, then i would get PRM skid plates and pro grip gels and maybe later a port and head mod. But get the pipes first . If you do low end riding id get the Toomey T5's, i dont like fmf for banshees andbesides the banshee is a top end machine so get rockets. Quote
German Shepherd Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 by the way use cycle logics engin ice as the coolant, silkoene gear oil, and silkoene 100% ester synthetic 2 stroke oil mixed with 93 gas at 40:1 or 50:1. I also like bel ray chaine lube Quote
superchicken Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 buy a clymers manual ditch the stock air filter, they like to pop off and suck in dirt and kill your top end.noss machine makes an adaptor plate for k&n's or foam filter pipes and rejet, acording to what you ride in,fattys are great for trails advance timing, either mod your stock stator plate or buy a ricky stator for 130$ and sell your old one to recoup some of your money thats what i did "thanks meat" tires,to suit your riding terrain.razors are good for trails and loose dirt hope this helps.you made a wise choice, wow do you like it so far? white trash Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 1st- thing you need is a Pro flow kit. Lose the junk stocker (i have one for sale pm me if interested) 2- get some pipes that match your riding style 3- new rear tires for sure 4- reeds 5- billit water impeller Quote
BenBB Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 Alot depends on where you're gonna ride, and how much you want to spend... 1. Air filter-there's a good reason it's on everyone's list, the stock setups sucks. Foam filter or K&N, carb mounted or in the airbox with an adapter plate. 2. Reliability-lots of little things you can do, but my favorite is a temp gauge. Adding grease zerks to the axle housing and swingarm pivot are a close second, then there's removing the TORS and adding skidplates. 3. Suspension-probably the most expensive but also where you can make a big difference, aftermarket front shocks would probably be my first suggestion, followed by (or ideally at the same time) wider a-arms, and a wider axle. 4. Performance-pipe it and rejet. After that, you're only limited by $$$, shaved head/aftermarket head, reeds & ported/aftermarket cages, advance the timing, porting, etc. 5. Traction-rear tires are a must, depending where you ride. The right combo of fronts & wheels all the way around help alot too. Quote
roosthrower Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 this one is easy guys 1. pro flow air intake and pipes 2. port work 3. suspension 4. carbs 5. bling Quote
red ore Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 #1..REPLACE THE AIR FILTER!!!!!!!! (lol, the stocker set up is JUNK) #2. Pipes (ANYTHING is better then stock, everyone has their favorite) #3 tires...(do some research on what would work best for your riding...) the rest is pretty trivial....once you get these done, youll know what to do next. I did the top three, then did trinity single carb, temp gauge and then cosmetic stuff. Quote
