UU guys are just toooo funny!!! I guess since this is a forum we can speak our mind.....free country and all.......You know I believe in guys that are sharp and can figure things out quickly and respect them...But I am a firm believer in experience, and the older you get the more you will find out there is no replacement for that. My experience is I could probably build an automatic tranny in a car or truck if I get a manual...and probably make it work..maybe..but there is the chance that I can and I would have gone through all the trouble of doing it on taking a chance at screwing it up. But I think I would much have rather and just worked that day or two or three and made the money to pay someone to do it. If they have pride in there job, they will make sure it shifts properly for me and I can depend on it to get me to and from where the hell I am going. Or in other words just get on my quad and kick someones butt and enjoy it instead of wandering around aimlessly on the net looking for an answer of why it doesnt run. Call someone that does this for a living and takes pride in his work and you will save yourself money in the long run unless you have an endless supply of money to constantly ticker.

I think in my mind I have given you good advise on the first post. I will reiterate what I said. 1 Sell the cylinders you have, get some stockers and send them with your engine to a reputable builder. 2 Tell him what you want 3. Get on and enjoy. And hopefully in the midst of all of this the extra hours you worked at your job to pay for it, you made someone else that needed your expertise in your area just as happy as you are with your new engine.

Besides, you bought it to ride it.....Not to work on it :D

I didn't intend to stir anything up, was just wondering if my bike was for sure set up for drag racing before I replaced the cylinders. I kinda like working on the bike myself and was trying to learn a little more about it. Thanks for the info

You didn't really stir anything up. This isn't the first time Quick350 has jumped down someones throat when a question was asked pertaining to porting. He obviously has alot of knowledge, but would just assume never share even the slightest little bit.

Here is another post just asking about port specs.

Quick350 will just say send them to a builder, or just start over with a fresh set of jugs and send those to a builder also. What seems to be missed is a few of us would like to learn what does what or what won't do something also. Most builders are afraid to put info pertaining to porting on the internet. So be it, it's there knowledge and they can share if the wish to, but there is no need to be condecending when someone with less knowledge asks a question.

Just sending your cylinders to a builder isn't going to make you fast. Locogato proved this, although some others with similiar cylinders built by the same builder can't say enough good things about them. Does that mean that his cylinders are improperly ported or he doesn't know what he's doing, NO. But it does mean that there is maybe just the slightest little piece of knowledge that is needed here, that just anybody might not know. Why, MAYBE because it's just too damn hard to find information out sometimes, because we just send stuff off to a builder.

It amazes me sometimes how some builders have to keep everything a secret and others will share the knowledge with the rest of us. There is one that posts on here quite frequently, that we have all learned alot from and for that we thank you.

Here is a post I got off PS that has actual port specs by a very respected builder. It just proves that some people will let people learn a little of what they have in their head.

This has become a little too long to keep anyone's interest, so I will let it go at that.

Just because the intakes are opened up a bunch does not mean that these jugs a drag ported and will have no low end. I don't know a lot about port timing, but I have seen a set of jugs with the intakes opened way up like this, and they run very good from bottom to top. There are way too many factors in determining how a motor will run than just looking at the intakes. Transfers, exaust timing, carbs, jetting, pipes, reeds, pistons, and compression all play a part in determining how a motor will run and where it will make its power. Have someone who is good with port timing look the set up over and they can probably tell you what it was ported for.

One way of increasing bottom end power that I am a big fan of is the 2-1 carb set up. I have one and so does my wife, and it seems to realy wake up the low to mid without killing the top.

Like some others have suggested, unless you look at the whole porting job (exh, transfers, specs) etc, you can't tell for sure if it has been over-ported or just drag ported, etc. My intakes looked similar to these and I have done even more since, and I actually have more low end than ever before (w/the rest of my porting set up at least). If you have the stock carbs, throw them back on for a little more low end throttle response. I put the "UFO" inserts in the bottoms of my round slides, and even though I have raised my exh and transfers, my low end is the strongest it has ever been w/the UFO's in the carbs. I am certain I have more low end and throttle response w/my stock carbs w/ufo's than my 34 PJ carbs, whether on gas or alky. Try the cheap things first. If you ever take off your head and measure from the top of the cylinder to the openings of your exh and transfers etc with dial calipers (in inches is fine), pm them to me and I can tell you if it looks like anything is too far out to be fixed. I'm sure you'll get it running just the way you want it. There are lots of good people on here that are willing to help you. ;)

It running lean on the left cylinder and rich on the right now, so I'm thinking of a 4mm stroker. Would my 34mm PJs still give good bottom end with new cylinders and a woods port?
