  1. SO WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING ON, GET TO CUTTING....Thats how everyone else figured it out. We jumped on the net, read a few post, and went to hacking away....CC specialty will sell you all the stuff you need to do the job properly for 1500bucks....what a spode licker!!! Do what the dude above said and buy the books, they will tell you what you need to know and you will understand a lot better than getting second hand information from some choad on the web.
  2. I agree with the guy that posted earlier about this becoming a pissing match, what a waste to read to Ill make mine brief. Most of the people that post on here are kiddos that just like to think they have the fastest. I have had just about every major builders engine come through my hands and they are all tit for tat in like respectives. GRR by no means has anything any better that Buddy does or Dan for that matter. Its just who you like and who takes care of you the most. When it all comes down to it, speed cost money....how fast do you want to go. You can get a chance to prove your point in Gilbert, La real soon, so secure your pie hole and lets see who comes to the track then for bragging rights. By the way all of the fastest official recorded times are on the planet sand website for your reading pleasure.
  3. UU guys are just toooo funny!!! I guess since this is a forum we can speak our mind.....free country and all.......You know I believe in guys that are sharp and can figure things out quickly and respect them...But I am a firm believer in experience, and the older you get the more you will find out there is no replacement for that. My experience is I could probably build an automatic tranny in a car or truck if I get a manual...and probably make it work..maybe..but there is the chance that I can and I would have gone through all the trouble of doing it on taking a chance at screwing it up. But I think I would much have rather and just worked that day or two or three and made the money to pay someone to do it. If they have pride in there job, they will make sure it shifts properly for me and I can depend on it to get me to and from where the hell I am going. Or in other words just get on my quad and kick someones butt and enjoy it instead of wandering around aimlessly on the net looking for an answer of why it doesnt run. Call someone that does this for a living and takes pride in his work and you will save yourself money in the long run unless you have an endless supply of money to constantly ticker. I think in my mind I have given you good advise on the first post. I will reiterate what I said. 1 Sell the cylinders you have, get some stockers and send them with your engine to a reputable builder. 2 Tell him what you want 3. Get on and enjoy. And hopefully in the midst of all of this the extra hours you worked at your job to pay for it, you made someone else that needed your expertise in your area just as happy as you are with your new engine. Besides, you bought it to ride it.....Not to work on it
  4. Went tonight ran a 6.82@94 in the eight on gas..... 1.53 60 ft not sure on the 330, but still fun. 350 drag ported...8 inch arm strutted, hoosier D20 tires 18/39 Gearing
  5. Ok, here is the long and the short of this deal. The engines that you are reffering to are used in road race conditions. These engines make gradual acceleration and deceleration changes. Most banshees that are build for drag race applications are outfitted with big paddles and on asphalt tires. They are starting from a dead stop with machines that weigh 150 lbs more than the bikes. Well that ole 8lb flywheel can play hell on the left side of the engine when the clutch is dumped at 10000rpm. I have tested this in a sand drag application and a 75 hp engine on gas will separated a stock crank in less that 20 one hundred yard passes. Sure some are lucky, and others only think they are 75 hp or more. I have dont this more than 5 times in a row and now I weld and true every single one. I actually broke a 10mil in half on the asphalt a week ago on the starting line. So my advise is to send it to Phil at crankworks and have him true it up. Its cheap insurance.
  6. Yes, I have seen that same cut a bunch, looks like Rudy Kurtz drag port, and if you have no bottom end its because transfers are to high like most so called " drag port" engines are. Paaathetticc. Trade them cylinders off for some stockers and have them properly cut for what your doing, some sucker will want them maybe on ebay. Oh, and by the way brainy one that thinks that changing the intake windows will not change things....hmmm.....eeeeeeehhhh wrong. Inreasing port windows lowers velocity and increases volume....hmmm, doesnt this hurt your bottom... I think so. Come on fellas, dont give the guys advise if you dont know your butt from a hole in the ground......The only people that get anything from your advise is people like me that giggle at your comments. Look kiddo, call a reputable builder and have them guide you in the right direction and dont take the advise from something you read on the net. Most of these guys are just telling you things they have found themselves somewhere else on another website. I learned the lessen the hardway, and now Im fast
  7. Sorry there turbo, your right, 330 ft is 4.31....not 4.13. I dont usually make mistakes like that I just need to proof read my writing. As for the degree key...More timing advance on a lower compression engine makes the engine a little peppier on bottom but as the cylinder pressure rises on the engine as the rpms increase, less timing is needed. I actually take out 1 degree on my 350 for higher mile an hour. Dont always believe the BS hipe you read from marketing propaganda. Advancing timing on a stock stroke is a way to band aid a poorely tuned engine. I have nothing to hide on my machine either, you can look, smell, touch anything you want but it is what I say it is. Only has 145psi of cranking pressure. I have run this time and backed it up on another local track here in Houston. Dont get in a tissy, I understand that a couple of guys in Michigan that are running 2 tenths faster that me consistantly on pump fuel with the same engine setup. Not a lot talk about it though, they want you to just show up so they can take your $. Think I am going to skip the Alky and just go straight to NOS. I am just to damn lazy to purge every time I use it. Back to the origional topic, If he puts a 6 or 8 inch arm, decent exhaust, raise compression to 130 psi" mill .032 off stock one if possible, " stock timing with Hoosier D20- 62 inch roll out sprint car tires on the rear with a 16 40 gear, his quad will run high 7s all day long with a good tune up. Provided he can pilot it. ON PUMP FUEL
  8. Your on the right track, my suggestion to you>>>> First step up to 16T Front Sprocket, 2nd take off the lid all the way and put in a 280 main and get the engine ported. You should be around 7.80s on pump fuel without an extended arm or wheelie bar. DO NOT ADD A DEGREE KEY ON A STOCK MOTOR WITH A STOCK HEAD! If someone tells you that this mod made their quad faster, then they had a poor tune up in the first place. I am on pump fuel, with 35mm Kehien, out of frame Borrink Pipes, Ported, strutted with 18 38 gearing --40 over 350- and my best time is 6.82@93.9mph this is with 1.46 60 foot times 4.13 in 330ft. Oh, and a 1 to 5 cut tranny. This is with 0 Degrees of timing. I weigh 170lbs and the quad is stock chassis. The Cut tranny dropped my time 3 tenths consistantly. Hopes this gives you a baseline to work with!
  9. Something does not sound right, 7.60@87.....hmmm with 16 41 gearing... This is one of our times, 350 93 octane fuel, no NOS Stock chassis with Hoosier 19 inch d20compound tires 17 39 gearing cut tranny 1 to 5... 6.85 @ 93.6 This was run in Rusk Texas recently.
  10. Um no, I am a new member to this site and would prefer to remain anonymous for a while. My political insites are black and white with no grey areas...I believe that when people spend there hard earned time and money to achieve success, that it should not be graciously given to the world. We as Americans in our arrogance give away our money and technology to third world countries and have ironicaly left ourselfs in debt. Therefore when someone comes up with an idea that puts them on top of the competition, it should be for sale and only privileged to the person that will pay for the technology. Now granted, there is a world of crap on the market that is a waste of time......Just proof you can polish a turd...so to speak and I will just leave it at that. I would like to extend some comon sense advise here, and this could be helpful to some and a waste to others. A. Raising Exhaust Ports 1. Increases Blowdown which intern allows exhaust to BUILD MOMENTUM EARLIER. This can be good and BAD....Think about it. 2. Lowers Compression"Yes common sense, less area to build comp. 3. Adds area to exhaust port......think bigger area, lower velocity! I am going to stop right here, and hope that I am getting a point across. I have seen just about every engine builders in the country cylinders come through my doors, and all are different because of different theorys. I will tell you this though....BIGGER IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER. I build a lot of four strokes as well and my faster drag engines have smaller ports in them than stock.. If you would like to really learn more about what happens within the engine, look up the readings of Gordan Blair on the net and enjoy. Taken me about 15 years to get a handle on it though, you kids these days with your fancy educations could soak all up in a week or so. I will call it a night on that note! Chears.....
  11. You know that is the first intelligent post that I have read on this site yet and I am in full agreance with you on this. Why in the hell would someone waste there time worrying about there timing specs when it means nothing whatsoever to the average laymen. Thats what is wrong with our freggin country now, everyone wants something for nothing, like I have a computor and I am smart enough to find the answer to make my Banshee faster than anyone elses just by surfing around.......Jaggofff. Not gonna happen..Be smart and just ride the quad and let the pros build the motors.....You know, I wonder if Donald Trump and Bill Gates will just post on the net the absolute secrets of how they became rich. Thats what I want to see posted all over the net.. NOT LIKELY TO HAPPEN...
  12. I say let him do it, that way when they dont run better you can clearly prove to your old man that his arogance and gained even more disrespect from you. Everyone thinks they can port cylinders, its easy just cut em bigger bubba....haha. Aaaafullly expensive mistake if you cut something wrong. Just save your dimes and send them to someone that has a reputation to protect. You will be much happier in the end.
