  1. badassbanshee479, your picture looks like Silver Lake Mi? I was just there last weekend! And Tedder, I'll have to give them a call and get me some of those filters. And yes, I'll have to make it up to Thompson's soon! I just got back from Norwalk's Summit Raceway Park, minutes ago and it was awesome! Lots of Nytro cars, and fast bikes! One girl on a bike had a brake failure and went through the sand trap at the end, and continued on into the corn field until bailing off! She walked away w/and injured pinky and being real sore. (wrecked the bike a little). FAST stuff there!!!! AWESOME. Sunday I have some hill drags to go to with the banshee, but I'll just run the small foam filters for now. I'ts such a short run anyways. Thanks guys. Talk to you later! Marc.
  2. My setup is just under 400cc with drag ported stock cyls, 6mm stroke, CPI inframes, and a pair for 33mm mikuni flatslides from a 700srx snowmobile. I am making 75hp with the foam 2"id x 3"od x 6" overall length uni filters. Now the filters are starting to break down and while drag racing, longer 500' runs seem to need just a little more top end. I would like to get some better breathing air filters than what I have now. They are only for drag racing, but will see asphault, dirt, and possibly sand. The filter side of the carb is 1.970" (close to a standard 2"?). I've seen some monster size filters on other good running banshees, so I figured this would be the best forum to ask. After I get some better filters I'll re-dyno tune to make sure I'm not too lean. Any air filter recommendations and where to get them would be AWESOME! Thanks in advance everybody!
  3. I can't find my whole book of notes when I did this, but I remember when I ported it I left a little on the table so i could fine tune slightly by changing base gasket thicknes or my other set of pistons. I can't remember the exact specs I ended up with, but exh was 198*-200*, and transfers were 128*-130*, and it was between 70%- 73% on the bore, and the rings didn't fall in yet. The next time I work on it, I'll verify what I have. I'm thinking 200/128, and if I can find a combo that can keep it at 200 or under I'll get the tr up to 130 if they aren't already, along w/lowering the compression while I'm at it. Then I'll dyno it and if it doesn't work, I'll try a slightly bigger carb. As for cutting the skirt of the sleeve down, I changed it on the transfer port sides a little, but not the skirt itself. With the bigger stroke on the stock cylinders, I'd probably want to keep all that support at bdc since the piston is going lower than a stock stroke now. I did all I could w/the intake and added the extra intake ports to the transfers down low. Just curious how your ricky stator hurt power so bad? Right now I am running a stock ignition setup, and modified my timing plate for up to 7* advance. For sure when I shift into 5th, it doesn't pull as strong as the gear before (goes lean getting off and on the throttle, so maybe I just can't get a hard clean rev after the throttle blip)?. I might put a momentary kill for the 5th shift, and not have to let off the throttle, and see if my times change drasticly.
  4. No, next time we'll have to make a video. It was a 100hp shot. The kit has 3 sizes...75, 100, and 125hp by changing the jets at the fogger nozzle.
  5. Long story short, my youngest brother is awesome, always helps, never will take money etc. Now after being married a year, they had a little baby (and no money to do fun things). He has a 99 black WS-6 Trans-am 6speed, so I secretly bought and installed a N20 kit for him. Obviously he never would have spent the $ on himself, so he was speechless. It works awesome! We went to the strip to do some grudge runs, and pulled 13.7 . A kid in a camaro ran over to us and wanted to race, so we did. With N2O it now pulled 13.01 to that kid's 14.4 ! He was pretty far back in the mirror! Then a 50th (maybe?) anniversary Mustang pulled up next and we beat him by more than 1 second also! Boy was that fun! Nitrous=
  6. Thanks guys! Hopefully he doesn't get any $ from anybody and they catch him.
  7. Thanks. I'll try tweeking it on the dyno one thing at a time once I get my street bike and other atv back together.
  8. Yeah. I don't use paddle tires in Pa either. I wasn't on ebay all week, and saw it the day before the auction was up. I emailed him I'd pay him in cash as soon as we could meet for me to pick it up, and I didn't get a reply. I'm sure he was hoping on the $500 down payment after the end of the auction through paypal or whatever. I saw the (0) feedback and knew there was no way I would send anything, but all in full when I actually see it. I wanted to show my brother what a deal I got by looking up other big banshees in "completed items" and then the exact atv popped up, and I wished I knew where the guy lived so I could bring the cops w/me, but it'll never happen. A friend of mine got robbed, and within a week, the dumba$$ robber put some of the items on craigslist! My friend called and was going to meet him (in a parking lot) where the robber suggested. My friend went to meet him, and when the robber started to walk towards him, he had the item still in my friend's bag that he stole out of his truck! When the robber recognized the truck, he ran, and my buddy didn't catch him in time on foot. People suck! This is the second time I won an ebay auction for a fairly costly item, and had it be a fraud. I didn't give any $ last time either, so I got lucky. The police said since I didn't actually send the money and loose it, they couldn't do anything. If I did actually send it and loose it, I still doubt anything would have came about it. Everybody needs to be cautious.
  9. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1995-10MIL-BANSHEE-CHEETAH-CUB-535-/110579866795?pt=ATVs&hash=item19bf12dcab , is the auction I won and as it turns out, is the same banshee pictures and wording from another previous auction from the week before across the country!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/10-mil-535-Cheetah-Drag-Banshee-/220655674654?pt=ATVs&hash=item33601a651e ,is the original auction in California! If this is not the best forum to post this, could somebody please get it moves somehow to the right place so nobody else gets scammed! Thanks.
  10. 75RWHP @ 9,500rpm @ 4,000' above sea level. 15/41 w/21" tires for 500'. My guess is I'm just a touch higher than I should be. I wanted 180 psi on this setup, but ended up at 200 psi on first attempt, so that is where I tried it at. Possibly wouldn't drop off as fast w/a little less compression. I did the porting and my brother has a couple Haas cncs so we put the stroke at 6mm, figuring that stroke would work best for the transfer port duration. VP110 gas. No weight shaved, and swingarm is 3 1/2" longer.
  11. I can't upload my dyno chart I just created. It is almost 2,000 KB and it says I can only upload 50K? I'll sent it to you and see if you can shrink or post it or look at it.
  12. I know cub cylinders make good power and right now I can't compete in a 500' run, but in short runs I do ok. My setup is stock cyls drag ported, 6mm stroke, long rods, cpi inframes, and 33mm flatslides. On the dyno my stock carbs make 72rwhp, and the 33mm carbs made a wider more usable powerband by a couple hundres rpms, and made 75rwhp. I make 200psi on the compression gauge. I didn't try lowering the compression yet, but I don't seem to have the top end I think I should have. If I went w/bigger carbs, would it make a definate difference or not really much? It is just under 400ccs. Just wondered if anybody was in my situation and had noticably better top end w/35s, 39s or whatever. Really pulls nice in short runs, but I need more top end. Thanks everyone!!
  13. No good here in Erie, Pa. Our local track 10 minutes from here is closed for the season also. Marc.
  14. I've seen the 800 can-ams as some drags lately, and they do rip off the line! On the same dyno that I go to, they did a stock one, and rear wheel hp was 40. But, if you spin off the line looking for traction, they are heavier and 4wd so they will surprise you and take off quick. Don't give them and inch if it's a short run!
  15. I'm running an R6 crotch rocket shock, and tonight I put a little harder spring in it, but still not as stiff as I'd hoped for. Looks like the soft balloons (4snows) on the back are going to handle a little different than the ITP holeshots as for the side wall flex!
  16. Awesome! Thanks! I thought I was the only one that ran my offsets in like that, but I guess not. I figured if one tire hooks more than the other, it might not pull to the side as much if they are closer to the center. Also...yep. I see these are real soft tires. Next time around I'll try to find the pro wedges. My dealer never even heard of them or who made them! But, I had the 4 snows in my possesion within a couple days, so, 4snows it was. Thanks guys! Marc.
  17. I just bought a new set of 4 snows to drag race with in sand/dirt mix. Should I run them in the dirrection the arrow says, or run them backwards? (will the lugs rip off or what are the pros and cons?) I'm only going to drag race these tires if it makes a difference. (75hp). Thanks!
  18. As for a soft dirt track, I am going to order the 4snows or pro wedges come monday. What works better w/those tires...8" for more sidewall flex, or 9" for less rotating tire mass? I was guessing the 9" run with low pressure? What ever setup works best I'll go with. Thanks everyone!
  19. Dirt drags, here's my setup that works good for me so far... R6 crotch rocket shock in rear, SRX 700 shocks in front (w/ or w/o chains per track) and 20" holeshots w/500 screws per tire. 75hp., 3 1/2" longer swingarm. Last night were some dirt drags w/real hard dirt/clay track (fairgrounds), where we weren't allowed to run screws. I put on my 18" american racers (sd 23 compound) and they spun the whole 300' on and off the throttle, sitting all the way back on the seat. I would have been crushed by a blaster! I took them right off and put on my brand new 20" Ohtsu's. Still horrible and spun all the way, but a little better than the american racers. I do have a rear adjustable strut I've never put on yet to try, but hoping somebody could help me w/a good tire choice, shock, or strut combo. I have the R6 shock spring and comp adjustments cranked all the way, and is probably still too plush for drags. Maybe a heavier spring or major dampening changes needed. If I can't run screws, how can I get ANY traction? I look like the slowest guy there, when the week before somewhere else I took 1st place w/screws! HELP! ::
  20. I run on asphault and dirt, but lately, it's been mostly dirt. I've had Shearer oof and CPI inframes, and I kept the CPIs. The Shearer oofs pulled good on top. They could run higher rpms than my cpi's, but they didnt' get me any better et's. They don't drop off hard but if I didn't do a perfect hole shot, it was over. I couldn't recover a bog at all w/the shearers. The CPI pipes have a little better bottom end to recover on a bad holeshot. I won $ w/my CPIs, but never w/the shearers. I'm not saying anything bad about shearers...I'm just saying that for my setup/ability/conditions, the cpi pipes worked good for me, so you should probably get some seat time w/yours since you already have them. I like mine. I never dynoed either set of pipes, but I would guess the cpi pipes peaked a little earlier and fell off a little sharper than the shearers, but probably came into the power earlier than the shearers. I would have to be a more consistant launcher to use the shearers. Enjoy!
  21. I just had some regular ITP holeshots, so I just put the screws in them.
  22. I had my ass handed to me at some races where the starting line was a real hard packed dirt/clay, and people were running ice screws in the tires on the banshees. After those races I put 500 ice screws in each tire and boy was that what the doctor ordered!!!
  23. I am running the same setup as you dragracing, and have the pancake bearing, heavy duty springs and stock clutch plates and NO PROBLEMS! I have a lockup and didn't stick it on yet. Don't need it yet. Running on dirt and asphault.
