hennessey800tt Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 when i get my shee should i put an electric fan on it? Is there enough room to put a fan on it? Quote
KRMit Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 I'm very interested in this as well. I don't see why one of the fans they make for the 450r, YFZ450, Z400... wouldn't work. Couldn't you just hook it up to the power going to your headlight switch. Like put a seperate switch somewhere to flip the fan on whenever cruising around in 1st? As long as your headlights aren't on there should be plenty of juice right? Quote
hennessey800tt Posted August 7, 2004 Author Report Posted August 7, 2004 See that is exactly what I was thinking.More along the lines of going to an auto parts store and buying an electric fan. But to me an electric fan shouldn't take up to much more power then the headlights. Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 but why? theres many diffrent ways to keep the shee cool, not mentioning squeezin a fan behind the grill Quote
hennessey800tt Posted August 8, 2004 Author Report Posted August 8, 2004 cause a fan would help air flow round the radiator and engine. But what are the toher ways of coolin it down? Quote
Banshee~ Posted August 8, 2004 Report Posted August 8, 2004 how about a computer fan?if it were me i wouldent fool with it i would get a coolhead and some engine ice if your worried about it overheating Quote
hemimike Posted August 8, 2004 Report Posted August 8, 2004 I also thought of this idea, using a fan would greatly decrease the coolent temp while at low speeds. The stearing stem makes this a difficult task to complete. But then again if you don't mind loosing your grill the fan could probably be mounted on the font of the rad. I also considered using a automobile heater core for aditional cooling in warm weather. Quote
hamuel Posted August 8, 2004 Report Posted August 8, 2004 just use the rad mount brackets for the fan. it's better for it to pull are then push it. because fans create dead spots in the center if it's infront it will inpead air from going throught the rad at high speeds. I was thinking the same thing. for when we go pay in the holes. cooler shee stays the more power she makes Quote
J.J. Posted August 8, 2004 Report Posted August 8, 2004 I can't remember where I got these photo's from or who the owner is. Who ever the owner is, full props to him, he did an excellent job IMO Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted August 8, 2004 Report Posted August 8, 2004 looks good, but theres still no reason to do it, the banshee's been around so long that many things have been made to keep em cool, inline coolers, engine ice, cool heads, bigger radiators billit water impellors.... Quote
421stroker Posted August 8, 2004 Report Posted August 8, 2004 Those pics were from one of the older forums. They are radio shack computer fans. I did the same thing and it looks good, but it doesn't work worth a shit. Trust me you don't want to wast your time. They didn't push enough air. Things like oversize radiator, impeller, cool head, and engine ice or a much better use of your time. Mounting a raptor fan or something behind your radiator is almost imposible do to the steering stem. Quote
hennessey800tt Posted August 8, 2004 Author Report Posted August 8, 2004 ok,I'll probly just do the other stuff instead of a fan.But if I were to use a fan I wouldnt use a computer fan anyways, not enough CFM flow Thanks guys Quote
