Titanium Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Bought it used and abused, ran it for under 10 hours over a year, $1500 in shop labor and it doesn't work, new stator... I've decided to get rid of the damn thing and buy a YFZ450. How should I sell it? It doesn't currently run (apart in my garage) Its likely i could put it together and get it RUNNING, not well but it'd turn over. Should i put it back together and hope it runs and sell it, put it back together and sell it as a work quad, or part it out? Quote
Indubitably Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Idk what you got as far as aftermarket parts i might want some if you part out. Quote

roosthrower Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 (edited) you could probably part it out in the for sale section and get more than what you bought it for, or you could list your problems and maybe a few guys could help you get it running right. Stick with the two strokes though. Don't let your money support four strokes. If anything, just buy a new banshee if you are fed up with the one you got. Edited July 19, 2004 by roosthrower Quote
LegendSS28 Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 id say 2500-3000 in nun running order, bout 3500 in running order. also it really depeneds on the overall condition and looks of the bike...people that into great consideration Quote
lincster Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 What type of shocks and what weight are they set up for? Quote
white trash Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 what weight, and size arms are the works valved for? I might take em off your hands Quote
Titanium Posted July 20, 2004 Author Report Posted July 20, 2004 I'm not really sure I can get pics of everything if you guys want Quote
boonman Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 Where you located at? And how much you want for it. OR, if you want to fix it, I need a little more of what is going on. (like what is the problem?) Is the motor in the chassis, or is it torn down? You got spark? What is the issue? Quote
Titanium Posted July 23, 2004 Author Report Posted July 23, 2004 (edited) Lol sorry man, I've decided to part it out on E-Bay, so watch for lots of parts from a 97 on there The problems? Cyl #1 : 30 PSI low on compression Cyl #2 : Irregular Spark Coolant: Filled with oil (broken oil seal) Radiator: Cap is bad and leaks Water Pump : Not flowing any water Carb : Constantly pouring out gas from bowl overflow (methinks the chopped slide spring not long enough to hold it down, so i'll be stretching it when I take it off) Anyway I figured out why the compression was bad...the O-Ring on that cylinder hadn't been seated properly when tightened down. The spark was most likely from the coil wires, this was supposed to be replaced but i just replaced the stator. Edited July 23, 2004 by Titanium Quote
boonman Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 Sorry to hear that, being that youcould have fixed the bike for under $300. You have some minor problems there. Bummer to see you do that. I guess some people are just that impatient........ Perhaps next time, you won't be like that, and you'll fix 'er up the way it was meant to be.... Quote
Titanium Posted July 25, 2004 Author Report Posted July 25, 2004 $300 on top of a bunch already spent I guess i'm one of those losers that isn't ready to have it under the wrench all the time. There is MORE wrong with it, this is just the stuff I know of right now (the cylinder tops are scratched, the water jackets were tapped into, the bearings are going, etc.) Quote
