Yeah I'm runnin the same carbs and mine is extremely stiff. I've heard of people cutting a few coils out of the spings but i never got the balls to try it. I would just ride it and it will get better as your thumb get's more used to it thats what i did. Or use one of those work out squeezy things that helped quite a bit.

twist throttle my brothers :headbang:

Right on! Those big carbs have alot stiffer springs in them, when I put on the 34's my thumb got real sore real quick then went to a twist and I'll never go back to thumb. The twist throttles take about......oh.....1 hour to get used to ;)

I HAVE 33 PWK'S AND CUT ABOUT 3-4 COILS OUT OF THE SLIDE SPRINGS AND CAN RIDE ALL DAY WITH NO BITCHIN!!! :D

I have 34PJ's and cut a few coils off of my springs and then stretched them to the original length. Much better! I did this many years ago and it still works great. Many friends have done the same thing with the 35's with the same results.

If you do this, when you reinstall put the cut side of the spring up against the carb top. It is a lot more comfortable to put back together this way.

Call carbparts.com and have them send you two spare slide springs and then experiment by taking one coil off then another and then another and see if you can get it to loosen some by testing it. If you f*ck it up, you got the spares my man.

Later.

thanks for the replies guys. ill keep messin with them to see if i can get them to loosen up a little. also, where the cable goes into the top of the carb, is the top screw cap supposed to be connected in any way to the cable itself? i can pull on mine and itll pull the slides up. im thinking this is fine, but i wanna be sure. i dont think it would connect cuz then you couldnt twist the top off. maybe im backwards, help is greatly appreciated!

cutting the springs sounds like a good idea just as long as they're not cut too short. if you wanted to stay with the thumb throttle then you should look into getting an extended thumb throttle lever. i bought one from cascade and it does make a difference. i don't have 35mm's (yet) but my thumb doesn't get fatigued as quickly as it did with the stock lever. i ride a lot of tight trails so i'm on and off the throttle a lot and my thumb would get fatigued quickly but not now with the new lever.

well on the stock spring my thumb started hurting so i pulled them out and took them to a bench grinder. and started spinning and grinding the edge of the spring. this causes the spring to weaken. i did it till i could compress the thing in my hand real easy. gotta watch out for making the spring too thin so it wont break.

I have the same carbs. I cut 6 coils out of each one. I have never had a problem with it. After cutting the coils, you can stretch them out a little if then need to be longer.
