knight_ripper Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 Im out at Sand Mountain, NV....just about to crest the top.....shifting to 2nd from 3rd at about 9k RPM's.....a loud pop, and then nothin but bog.....I get her to turn around and once I hit the flats, I crank her over. All of a sudden the RPM shoot through the roof. The left slide had twisted and was sitting on the idle screw.... What a pain...I dont know how to keep it in there. Im thinking some jb weld on the outside should keep it in place....but then again Im not sure how its sapposed to stay there in the first place. It looks like its pressed in there...but now its no longer tight and my slide is just pushing it out of the way. You slide it in and out with your finger and needlenose. What should I do? Has this ever happened to anyone? Quote
pimp559 Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 Yes that happened to my wife on her shee at the top of jump. The bike took off through a field like a bat out of hell. Luckily it hit a bump in the field and dislodged before it got to the main road. It scarred her but she was alright. I pulled on my shee and was like where in the hell is your bike. She pointed way out into the field. I guess in this case the tors might have helped. I took it home and found that the guide had backed out(after buying a new throttle cable). I just pushed it back in good and super glued it from the outside. Never had a problem with it after that. Quote
BenBB Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 Mine have done that a time or two. If you look real close at the outside of the carb, there are three indentations where the aluminum is "dinged" to keep that tit thing in place. I used a chisel and a BFH and put some serious dings in mine, haven't had it back out since, just make sure it's as close to perfectly vertical as you can get it... Quote
geaux 4 it Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 Tap it back in place, but not too far in, the slide will stick.Use jb weld or a loctite 609 to hold it in place. Quote
