350duner Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 What is there as far as ignition I can do for a banshee that will let it rev further? I don't want to go with a PVL since I like the option of running lights. The way my shee is ported it's still pulling hard when the stock ignition craps out so i want another 1000-2000rpm out of it. Also, I assume I should be running TZ bearings if I'm going to be buzzing it up above 10K rpm? Quote
bkabina Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 Check the Dyna ignition,it replaces the stock cdi,but I think it would probably help you out.I'm not sure though on how high it revs out.You could probably reprogram it to get the higher rev your looking for.Or if your not comfortable programming it I am sure you could be it from someone that can program it for what you need. What does everyone else think? Quote
MotulMonsta Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 Dyna's a good product. That'swhat I'm running right now, I'm using the stock curve and it has a higher rev limit then the stock cdi. Fmf makes a cdi too. Don't know much about it though. The dyna will let you retain the lights. And it doesn't require a battery like some of the other types out there. Plus it's cheaper then stock. 350duner Posted March 8, 2004 Author Report Posted March 8, 2004 Why is it crapping out on you? It just feels like it runs out of spark. The motor keeps pulling hard but at a certain point feels like it's not lighting the fires. Is the stock CDI good for high rpm or should I switch to dyna or something else? I know when I went with a LRD CDI on my R it revved quicker due to the different ignition curve, and revved higher. The motor is still getting broken in so I'll have to play with it some more. I'd just like a little more overrev. Also anyone here have Nology ignition wires on their banshee? I put one on my R but I did the CR250 igntion at the same time so I had no way to tell if it made an improvement over the stock wire. Quote
Ducman Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 I have heard from a very reputable mechanic I know that the capacitors in the Nology wires that give the spark a little extra Kick, wear out fast and then the wires essentially become the same as a regular high performance wires in a short time. He said that they are pretty much good for racing only because if you use them to ride all the time they will wear out fast. They cost a but load of money too. I have had friends that bought them and swear they make a notable difference though. Definitly noticeable in the pocketbook I say. Quote
banshee tuner Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 Has anyone tried the gytr ignition module, I saw one in the dealership catalog and I beleive it was only 200 bucks. Quote
geaux 4 it Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 Check the plugs and the jetting. The factory ignition will pull way out there.I never seen anyproblem pulling 10-11,000rpms at all! I would check out the ignition first before putting something else on.I have found the plug caps causing this also. You can run taylor wires in the coil, they have a steel core and will not break like carbon wires.
