I run 13/42 on 20's right now. It's a little short but I never really get out of 3rd gear for very long. I don't get to race as much as I like but I got a few 1st place trophies last year. They were local races, nothing big. The tracks were short and tight. I was smoking some dirt bikeres and holding my own against a leager honda geometry chassis banshee. I'm going to bump up to 14/42 when my new rims get here. Rims aint' cheap..I had to use the one I was running hare scrambles on..hence the 20's on 10's. I got knocked on for that..but when you school a few yokles they stop talkin' trash.

For stock, or 20" tires, stock gearing is better (14/41).  Depending on traction of the launch, I like to start in 2nd gear.  With this high a ratio, this could not be done effectively with 20" tires.

i think it depends on your bike, if i run a 15/41 and shoot the gate in second ill loop my bike, on a stock bansh with pipes ive found a 15/41 to roll on decent with 20's, the less spin, the more accelereation, snapping the tires loose with a 14 in second seems like it would slow you down and youd be shifting plenty, unless like i said your motors just piped, in which case yer getting smoked anyway, unless youve got an ass kickin chassis thats gonna let your real everybody in over the rough stuff.......

I have a Dynoport pipe and a 2 into 1 carb. I have 13 and 41 rear now but what do you think i should change too maybe a 14 front?? The tracks are not wide open I dono how to describe them but nothing like a nats so maybe tight. Let me know cuz if i need to change my gearing i need to get the stuff now.

I am running a Dyno Port Pipe on 18"s. I am geared 14/41 and it works well unless I hit a big track then I bump up to 15/41.

I normally stay in 3rd and some times 4th when i am racing!

Hope that helps OC.

everyone is forgetting an important fact, Banshee's got one extra gear then the competition. That alone makes a diffrence. The bigest ratio change in the gearbox is from 2nd to 3rd gear after that, it's all pretty close. I don't know about anybody else, but I run hard on the clutch to save from shifting. Usualy only shift up one or down a gear after the start . So if i'm running third, I'll only see 4th and 2nd. Just smoke that clutch and keep the throttle pinned.
