Djj624 Posted December 31, 2024 Report Posted December 31, 2024 Have an 89 banshee. Starts first kick every time hot or cold, has insane top end power too. Pretty much stock except for fmf fattys, toomey silencers, and uni pods. Running 25 pilots and 290 mains(this was the setup when i got it). I'm located in north jersey at 203 elevation. This is my first banshee so iv never ridden one. Iv had a 400ex, blaster, raptor700, a few yfz450s, a kfx400, all which would wheelie on demand and had tons of torque. I understand that 2 strokes don't put out the amount of torque that a 4 stroke does and reading some other threads that the banshee isn't really a torque monster but i cant believe that they wont power wheelie at all and you always have to be so high in the rpms to go fast when you hit the throttle.?.? I have read mixed reviews some say its normal other say the banshee should have decent torque. Mine definitely has no low end, if you crack the throttle even with the rpms a little high it still takes a minute to open up. Top end its a raped ape, insanely fast. Any ideas? Quote
Jereme6655 Posted January 1, 2025 Report Posted January 1, 2025 It’s a twin cylinder two stroke….. it doesn’t have the torque down low like 4 strokes. And chances are, you’re not high enough into the rpm to “power-wheelie” like you want. Will they do it? Absolutely….. will they do it like a 4 stroke? Nope….you have to be way up in the rpm and on the pipe to “power-wheelie” which means it’s going to be a potentially violent wheel lift. if you want to wheelie, go back to a 4stroke. If you want to humiliate 4 strokes….keep the banshee. Quote
locogato11283 Posted January 1, 2025 Report Posted January 1, 2025 Two things. First, it should have a 27.5 pilot jet in it. Second, lower the gearing. It’ll be easier to get the front end in the air. Quote
trickedcarbine Posted January 12, 2025 Report Posted January 12, 2025 Go up teeth on the rear sprocket or drop a tooth on the front. Do a cool head to bump compression a bit and get a timing plate and give it 4°. You’re probably lean on the pilot as well so it won’t be happy when you whack the throttle. Quote
