I was told that if I sand the scratches out of my plastics working my way up to the finest paper I can then go over them with a heat gun until they are as smooth as possible then coat them with a good car wax they will look brand new. Anybody know if that's true? I'm scared to see for myself.

WAAAAY  WAAAY WAAY WAY more trouble than it is worth. Time and materials...  Better to buy new. Honest. But try a small spot (start to finish) UNDER a fender first.

You act like you've done this before. 🤣

I don't care about a bit of work  I was just wondering if anybody has done this and what the results were. I don't have the money for $1000 OEM plastics and I think the rounded corners on most aftermarket plastics are uglier than the scratches. I didn't think about trying a spot under the plastics. I feel like an idiot now 🤣

I tried sanding my plastics once, totally fucked them, ended up buying new
