Salgon93 Posted April 30, 2019 Report Posted April 30, 2019 What’s up everybody. I’m rebuilding my banshee engine just installed a 4 mil hot rods crank and top end. *Cylinders are 65.50 with a drag port from herrjugsracing.* I just measured the squish using the solder technique and measured 0.038 with the base gasket already installed. What is a good clearance to have best performance and avoid carbon build up? Quote
Ayesully810 Posted April 30, 2019 Report Posted April 30, 2019 .038 sounds good to me know drag motors run tigher clearances im at .058 on my play pump gas motor which is obviously pretty safe. Quote
Salgon93 Posted April 30, 2019 Author Report Posted April 30, 2019 Do you know what difference it makes on a tighter clearance to a looser clearance? Quote
Tedder Posted April 30, 2019 Report Posted April 30, 2019 I would have said that's plenty tight. My asphalt motors are all in the 50's 1 Quote

SKEETER Posted May 1, 2019 Report Posted May 1, 2019 No joke. Just amazes me how people will have engine work done by a builder, then come on here or Facebook, and ask questions that they should be getting info from builder. 1 Quote

Canadianshee Posted May 2, 2019 Report Posted May 2, 2019 If builder is no longer in the game. What information needs to relayed to next builder to have new domes cut, this applies to both std bore and large bore.Sent from my LG-H873 using Tapatalk Quote

Also the solder squish test isn't a perfect reading. from what ive been told it can vary + or - a few decimals.... in this case... you definitely wouldn't want it to me any tighter... and 100% with skeeter lol..... and i know from experience Quote
