Andreb84 Posted August 7, 2016 Report Posted August 7, 2016 Thinking about getting a lock up for my cub...was going to get a direct drive lock up but iv'e heard good things about the sling shot style lock up.just wanted some opinion from others who have run both set ups Quote
trickedcarbine Posted August 7, 2016 Report Posted August 7, 2016 If you are gonna be adjusting it often, I'd go with the DD style. It's lighter and cheaper. However you do need to buy the more expensive cover. The sling shot really feels more like a set it and forget it kind of deal. I love mine, but if you are wanting to do several changes for drag racing they can be a chore. The cover has to come off every time, then the sling shot cover has to come off as well. For a trail or duner set up they are a pretty slick deal though. You don't need a pricy cover, and they take minimal work on the stock cover to work. Quote
Andreb84 Posted August 7, 2016 Author Report Posted August 7, 2016 So if money isnt a concern go with DD...just looking for the overall best option..im done trying to be cheap when it comes to this hobby Quote
RagunCajun Posted August 7, 2016 Report Posted August 7, 2016 I've had my slingshot for around 5-6 years now. I always put more weight than recommended and leave it alone. I care it doesn't slip and I don't drag race seriously so I don't need to control or worry about slipping a little off the line. I always loved how it fit under the stock cover. That's a plus to me. I never liked the idea of "showing off" my lockup on a play bike with a clear lense. Slingshot fit under the stock cover, just have to grind the 3 tit things down. 1 Quote
