mattmans1983 Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 I recently purchased V-Force off of ebay so I didn't get any papers with it and they say you can adjust them to a stiffer position or a less stiff position. Can you and how? Also, after installing the reeds I did'nt notice as big as change as everyone says they give. A little difference in throttle response but not what everyone brags about. After installing all I did was lean out my needle 1 position which puts it in the 2nd clip position. Anyone? Quote
eehsnab2 Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 You can move the reeds but my instructions told me not too... I left my needle in the stock postion. I didnt notice much of an increase either except that it smoothed out the powerband a bit. From what it sounds like is that they do help quite a bit with ported motors. I am getting my motor back this week so we'll see. Quote
Nighty Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 Keeps us informed eehsnab2. I have the boyessen reeds and those improved my thottle response. Quote
psd1 Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 I love the V force. I noticed an all around performance gain. Like 2banshee said, the instructions say NOT to change the position of the reeds. I didnt change my needle either. Maybe the reeds are worn out? How much did you pay for them?? Quote
mattmans1983 Posted December 8, 2003 Author Report Posted December 8, 2003 I paid 170 and they said they've only been ran for almost 3 hours. They do look farely new even though the outsides of them were very dirty. Also, the petals in the corners looked to have been almost creased at one point. I will try to move needle back 1 position and see if that helps. Thanx for all the input. Quote
spoin39 Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 All you have to do to change the tension (setting) is to flip the reed holder over. It says "low" on one side and "high" on the other, it stands for the RPM range you want the power the most. If you set it on the "low" position your reeds will wear out quicker. Mine are on that setting all the time and replace them twice a year but I ride alot and race a little, you don't notice alot of difference unless you have more mods. Quote
spoin39 Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 Also, you should have raised the needle a notch, not lower it. Raising the needle (lowering the clip) leans it out, you should also go up 1 or 2 sizes on the main. Quote
spoin39 Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 Sorry I said that backwards, raising the needle (lower the clip) richens/ lowering the needle (raising clip) leans it out. Sorry bout that! Quote
