The Mcdank build

Recommended Posts

So I figured I'd start a build thread for my 96' banshee. This project started in June shortly after I bought the quad in May. It all started when the notorious idler gear went out.

This is when I first got it https://imageshack.com/i/p89lhFK1j

It was what I wanted, for the most part. It had K&N pods and +4adv timing, twist throttle and that was it. it also came with a manual, paddles and a title witch where all a bonus. shortly after that I got new a new chain and sprockets for it for obvious reasons lol

Then it was off for the first "big" trip to the the silver lake sand dunes

Then it happened the "Big Bang"

Then began the year down

Once all that was left was to split the cases this is where I got worried because I've never had any experience doing any thing like this but it went fine in the end

Then came the re-assembly, I bought a new/used bottom case off eBay with all the gaskets and bearings and what nots

Then like any banshee owner I wanted to add my own unique touch per say, something that sets it appear from the rest so I went with a bright red for the bottom end to color match my tank plastics

Then came putting the trans back in the frames do putting the clutch basket and all that back

Then I put on a ton of stickers because it's a no brainier that stickers add a ton of horse power and makes the girls wet

I moved the key from its stock position to the front right fender as you can see but I remembered seeing quite a few people putting them under the seat so I did that instead. I used a 1/8" piece of aluminum off a running bored from a truck some one had thrown away at where I work so I "tried" to cut it and polished it up pretty nicely

Sense I go to a half a day of "collage" every day for welding I was able to save my clutch case by having a buddy of mine tig weld the crack in it solid

That's where I'm at as of now Im just waiting on my kick starter seal to come in the mail then the bottom end will be complete. This build will take a while so stick around see what's going on, let me know what you guys think so far!

i just spent i think 2 or 3 hours cleaning off spraypaint like that on a set of cases.  getting it off all the bolts. trans parts overspray inside the cases.,  what a mess..

in the future  paint before assembly if your going to do it..
