Newcs222 Posted April 9, 2014 Report Share Posted April 9, 2014 I noticed coolant leaking from one of the head studs. The nut was loose so I began to tighten it but the head stud was coming with it. Pulled the head and found the head was stripped. Not the stud but the threaded female portion on the jug. What are my options here? Can I get a larger head stud and tap out the jug? This will also require drilling the hole larger on the head. Is there some high temp compound I can use to set the head stud back in? Buckwheat Posted April 10, 2014 Report Share Posted April 10, 2014 I used a heli-coil on one of my head studs and it worked great. Just make sure you get the heli-coil far enough down in the threads so the stud is installed at the proper depth. This is especially critical if using acorn nuts.
