atvfreestylekid Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 Even if the rod and ball are good, ditch that pos ball and adjuster and get a pancake bearing adjuster. If anything happens and that rod and ball, the case has to be split to get it out. Not fun to do over a simple problem that's a $40-50 prevention. Happened to me. Quote
ATVridinMaNiAc Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 Lube your cable with graphite spray also, best cable lube ive used by far. Quote
03DMshee Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 Are you joking when you say with the clutches and pressure plate off the cable still pulls like shit? Cause your answering your own question Quote
2005shee Posted December 21, 2013 Author Report Posted December 21, 2013 I never said it pulled bad with the clutches and pressure plates off, I was saying it pulled perfectly fine without snagging and asked if the ball and rod were bad why it wasn't snagging. Quote
hoppedupandcutdown Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 It has nothing to do with the plates and steels. When you pull the lever all you are pushing against are the springs. If you have no binding from the actuator/rod/ball/adjuster, then it has to be your cable. Take it off, hold it vertical and spray it, work it, spray it, work it, spray it, work it, etc. Quote
sprinklerman Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 More like replace it. Lube the new one before use too. Quote
RagunCajun Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 Can you offer help instead of just saying "wow"? Assuming everything is fine, you can run 6 stock springs and an undercover sling shot. It wont slip and it will grab harder than your current set up. may be hard to power shift without an override though. Quote
sprinklerman Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 Can you offer help instead of just saying "wow"? Nope, that's the extent of what he can offer up. Sorry. Quote
96white/red Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 Did you find the problem and fix it ? Quote
2005shee Posted December 22, 2013 Author Report Posted December 22, 2013 hey guys sorry ive been working with my friend on his winch all day didn't get to post up. I checked the rods and ball all good came out fine no shrooming on the rods. im going to try and find a new perch for the clutch and some stock springs tomorrow when I go to get my new air compressor. ill hopefully have some leadway tomorrow. ill get a new cable too if I can find it. Quote
RagunCajun Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 Did you lube your cable? That's cheap and easy to do. I use white lithium grease and a special tool that goes on the end of the cable to keep the grease in while it sprays. Quote
2005shee Posted December 23, 2013 Author Report Posted December 23, 2013 ya I lubed it good but I have to wait 2 days for parts to ship to me so im kinda stuck for now I went ahead and painted my gas and radiator cover now no more yellow except the shocks Quote
2005shee Posted December 27, 2013 Author Report Posted December 27, 2013 well I put my new clutch perch on today and now the clutch is fine, still stuff from springs but nothing abnormal so im good to go. don't know why the other perch was so hard nothing looked broke but I guess that's what I get for buying el cheapo brand parts lol.
