turbowrenchhead Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 I'm curious to know how much of a difference they make? Never had the opportunity to try it for myself. Any recommendations on a certain tire? Not looking to spend a shit ton. I'm probably going to use them once a year if that. Quote
apeik Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 (edited) They make a huge difference. If you're literally only going to use them once a year, just get anything besides sand gecko's. Any v-blade or straight blade will work. Just look here or CList for some local. Can be had for 40-100 bucks usually. Try to get some that dont have dented rims or leak air if possible. (it annoy's the crap out of me personally). Edited August 25, 2013 by apeik Quote
toytech Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 as stated huge dif. David Allen racing sells areo speed paddles at reasonable price. they are at the dune entrance at silverlake dunes mi Quote
rg97 Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 HAULERS! Best tire you can get. Pricey, but worth it. They're all I'll ever run. If you dont want to spend big $ then get ITP sand stars. Quote

turbowrenchhead Posted August 26, 2013 Author Report Posted August 26, 2013 What about the fronts? The single ridge in the center the best for turning? Quote
apeik Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 That's what i run, just dune trackers. If you're going once a year it's not make or break, i ran knobbies for a whole season. Quote
turbowrenchhead Posted August 26, 2013 Author Report Posted August 26, 2013 If you go to an area where there are trails and dunes. How do the paddle tires do with trail riding? Do they kick out on corners more? Quote
dirtydownunder Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 I will not go to the dunes without paddles. Even on a stock bike, paddles make all the.difference. Paddles won't slide like dirt tyres, but you get used to it. I've never ran dune fronts, people say they make a difference. Quote
rubberneck Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 fronts dont matter much banshees have so much power the front is always in the air anyway. Quote
rubberneck Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 Ok seriously, if you only go once a year dont bother with fronts, knobbies work fine Quote
Coupelx Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 Yes the knobbies work but there is a decent difference with front sand tires. dirt tires dont turn for shit when the sand is very dry. Quote
