xjmav Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 I see everyone says do an adj timing plate as one of your first mods. Just pure curiosity, how much does it help???? Quote
ATVridinMaNiAc Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 What ive noticed is its more low end, littte more responsive on the throttle, even when just revving it. Quote

Starwriter Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 My high school shop teacher explained it like this. If your buddy is across the street walking down the sidewalk and you want to hit him with a baseball, you have to throw the ball in front of him to hit him. Now if he's running down the sidewalk, you have to throw it farther in front of him to hit him. Same principal applies to ignition timing. Light the fuel before the piston gets to the top so that by the time it starts really making pressure, the piston is just past top dead center. That's why you have an advance curve with more advance at higher RPMs. Yamaha set up the timing and compression very conservative so that any shit gas anywhere in the world could be dumped in it and they wouldn't be replacing a motor under warranty. 1 Quote
Nieskes Posted February 7, 2013 Report Posted February 7, 2013 Just buy Zillafreak's efi kit that he sells. You just have to pm him for all the details, because he does not advertise it. He is having a hard time keeping up with the high demand. Quote
Nieskes Posted February 7, 2013 Report Posted February 7, 2013 dont work nieskes, you couldn't afford it anyways Yea I know that, I can't afford alot of things. I will just go ride Evans Quote
Uf21 Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 If I advance timing by +2 or +3 will it have a noticeable difference? and will I have to change jetting? Quote
