I was told today a 10mil crank with 115 rods is better for power and performance over a 10mil with 120 rods.....can some one explain on how and why this is true........asking cuz im building a 10mil dm and im still learning about all this stuff. Thanks guys

off a guy from here. he said he was told it the 115 was better. i told him i was looking at a twister crank with 120 rods and he said the 115 set up he had was better so i just want to verify. maybe he got some wrong information cuz he did say i should call and ask about it.

Less case trenching with the 115... The 120 rod usually uses a bigger pin witch in my opinion would be stronger... If it were my build it would be 115 just my 2 cents tho

Typically the longer the rod you can use the better. It takes out some of the rod angle as the crank goes through the stroke. The only down side I see to the 120 rod is a piston that may be less common and a little more trench work. However, in an application like that you are already hunting down an out of the norm piston and trench work is trench work. The 120 should have a bigger pin which would be a little beefier and stronger

If you are doing a DM then the trench work will require....just that , trench work and quite a bit of case work. Less rod angle is better in general but just listen to your builder thats doing your DM cuz I doubt you are doing it yourself anyway.

I spoke with Brandon from wildcard and he wants to put in a 10mil 120 rod crank in, so I just wanted to see what other ppl thought. I know other builders do things a lot different so I just wanted to see other peoples thoughts and opinions that's all

The 120 rod crank will be a step pin crank if it's a CRankworks crank. 120 rods are a little harder to find sometimes. The old good ones are discontinued by HR. so the ones now are narrow with double thrust washers. They are working on billet ones but little over kill on NA 10 DM. Keep it simple do 10-115 . I've switched most mine that way with great results . Cam
