WHY do tires bounce/shake?

so i put some 22-11-8 cheng shin lumberjack tires on my banshee's rims and they shake like a mother fker. Cant get over 5th gear with out having a mini seizure trying to hold on to the handlebars. On my 3 wheeler they shake but thats only going 45 mph. So since my little 18 inchers need to go i found a pair of carisle turf tamer knobby style tires. IM hoping these dont shake but why do some tires shake and others dont??

I know last season I had way to much air pressure in mine and they had a small bounce. 22-10-10 tho now I run the 8"

yea i tried them with about 2psi and pumped to like 10psi almost no difference.

Simple. They're not balanced like car tires.

Because they are out of ballance. You normally dont ballance atv tires because they are used off road where you have to deal with rough terrain.

 

 

Also the quality of the tire you purcahse. A good tire brand will a more unifom tire so it wont be out of ballance as bad.

take a look at your axle bearings, i couldnt run 22" bearclaws because my shee shook like hell in the higher gears, changed the bearings and no more shaking.

its very tight on the rear end no play what so ever. and the complete front end bearings have been replaced since i owned it.

I run 1/4 mile at 120mph+ and ALWAYS balance our American Racers with a bubble balancer and stick on weights. I had to do something because they varied from little vibration to so bad that you could see flashes of daylight under them as they went down track.

Yea if your rims are straight, hubs are ok, wheel bearings, axle bearings, tie rod ends etc. are good and theres not like a bunch of slime tire sealant in the tires then its just something that certain tires will do on 4wheelers not being balanced, you normally wouldnt have to worry about it on alot of 4wheelers because most utility bikes and stuff only go around 45-55 but on a banshee its a different story going 70-80+ mph.

Right now I got 18 inch itp holeshots and you can't feel a thing at wot 6th gear except the banshee trying to come out from underneath ur ass haha

You could go to a tire shop and ask for balancing powder. Its used in truck tires. One packet does a truck tire so start with a little and experiment. I personally dont think it works but some guys swear by it.

Could be a bent rim, happened to me. Used to shake badly but only in sixth. Changed the rim, now it rides likes a lexus in top gear.

You can have a shop balance them. Our dyno tires are balanced. (When they are going 100 on the roller, if they aren't balanced...your going to notice.) LOL.

You can get the adhesive weights and put them on the inside of the rim. We have a small Snap-on wheel balancer for doing ATV, Kart, Motorcycle and even small trailer tires. But a auto balancer might be able to do it, if they have a small enough cone to center the wheel.

Otherwise I've seen guys use the tapered cone style bubble balancer that was developed for balancing mower blades.........
