the part that needs to be cut is the part that connects to the back of a stock gas tank you take about 4" off I cut mine after this pic it looked as good as it could with a big tank.

I have a 5.5 gal Clarke gas tank.

I like it, i think that as far as having an oversized gas tank goes it is one of the best looking ones out there.

The only problem i have with it is that the front plastics are a little more difficult to take off.

If u buy a Clarke gas tank, u do have to drill out the holes for your petcock to fit in which isnt a big deal.

i have a ims 5.6 gallon and so does two others that i ride with and we absolutely love them. I have owned a clarke also, never installed it, and i do agree the clarkes to look better.

Hey Guys, This may be my first post but I've come here for year's for the knowledge and ideas :)

I am really on the fence with whether to get an oversize fuel tank for my Banshee or not. I've read through probably every post on this forum related to subject. I'm aware that most think both the IMS and the Clarke tanks don't look good. I've read about cutting the plastics and so on but honestly I'm looking at the few on this thread that posted pics of there Clarke tanks and I think they look good.

I really like your's J.J. And the sticker Banshee HQ.com is a nice touch ! Would you mind telling me if you had any problems with your install, i.e. Handlebars hitting when you turn them side to side? Handlebar height issues ? Also any of the other's that installed there Clarke tanks, did you all have any issues ?

I see that there was a ton of negative press year's ago with both the IMS and the Clarke over sized tanks. Did things change in the last couple of years with the making of them ? The picture on the power-barn website of the Clarke tank on the Banshee looks good to me. Also it's on sale for $209.00 right now so depending on the responses that I get I will make a decision whether to purchase one or not. Thanks everyone for your Help. :D

Thanks bud, the bar rubs on the tank at full lock at the moment; the bar needs to be about 3mm higher to clear the tank with my preferred bar position. If I rotate the bars in the clamp a bit forward they clear. This is at the last bit of full lock only. I recently got some fat bar adapters from a member here which I plan to fit with some Flexx bars. Should clear easily then.

Thats actually a real nice clean look, Im normally not a fan of the oversized tank, but it flows real good on your bike.

Post up a side pic would ya??

Joe

I'm going to order the Tank as soon as I post this but do have another question. I read where you reuse your oem petcock. Did your Clarke tank come with what looks like the gasket that goes between the petcock and the tank so fuel does not leak ? Yamaha calls this piece I'm referring to as a ".O-RING" Part # 4X8-24512-00-00 If Clarke does not supply this I guess I will order a new one. The Part cost is meager at $2.25 but shipping for this little part is $7.95

Thank you for the Handlebar information. I will probably do the same as you but will weight until I get the new tank installed.

no gasket, I had to rob the stock tank for all the parts

is this the natural color 5.5 tank?

Yep, natural, not white. I wanted to be able to see the fuel level through the plastic.
