I don't know if hitting a big rock or tree ripping along in the woods and mountains or hitting a big razor back or witches eye ripping along in the dunes would be worse. All i know is that both take skill and knowledge and be aware of your surroundings, especially whats coming up ahead of you. All of them would hurt and put you down for a bit. 00sheerzr Posted March 14, 2010 Report Share Posted March 14, 2010 im going with trails although i have never ridden dunes. i would imagine dodging trees, rocks, and huge ruts at WOT would be alittle more difficult than flying WOT through sand. i am not guna say im a better rider just because i ride trails, but when riding a banshee you should be ready for anything when your pinned in trails or dunes. let the arguing begin Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

locogato11283 Posted March 14, 2010 Report Share Posted March 14, 2010 ive ridden both and im going with trails. you have to be careful in the dunes to avoid steep drop-offs or other riders for sure... im gonna say though, that it takes more skill to go faster in the trails than in the dunes.. combine speed with trees, rocks, hills, creeks, rivers and mud and you have to be more skilled to go fast. youre also working the steering, clutch and throttle more in the trails. in the dunes, to go fast you really only need to watch out for other riders and the occasional steep drop-off. The thing about big high speed dunes are they change every day, so the nice clean line you ran yesterday in now full of razors, steep drop off, blow holes, and all sorts of fun stuff. Just think if the trail you ride all the time "grew" new rocks trees and ruts over night. The land scape is the same but a 6" tree grew right in the middle of the trail you ran last night, and the slight down hill is now a 6' foot drop. donkeypuncher Posted March 14, 2010 Report Share Posted March 14, 2010 based off the fact that in the dunes i ride there are trails, im gonna have to go with dunes. have you trail guys ever ridden WOT while being blinded by the terrain you're riding on? riding in the dunes during summer is like snowbording on a sunny day, the glare from the sand doesnt let you see shit and drop offs and razor backs come out of nowhere. and like i said, where i ride there are trails too. not just put put trails but haul ass trails like some of the ones you guys ride. we got tree's and all and we gotta worry about riders going the opposite direction that we cant see coming around the corners because of the dunes, trees, brush etc...that are in the way. basically what i'm sayin is, riding in the dunes isnt as easy as it sounds. a lot of people assume its easy because a lot of what they see is just guys drag racing or runnin the big bowls in glamis. theres a lot more to it than just that. Many of times ive ridden up on some deer,porcupines, turkeys, moose. I ride in sandpits too, all kinds of drop offs you gotta look for since they still get worked in.
