an adjustable timing plate allows you to advance or retard the timing of the motor.

generally, most people advance the timing in addition to having motor work done to maximize horsepower gains.

you can do the mod with a stock setup as well. its not going to hurt you to do it and you may see some power gains from it.

i recommend the chariot performance billet timing plate...

http://bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=120036 There's how one of the guys on the forum did his own from a stock timing plate. Make sure to click on the link to his photobucket and it's got pics of it. I *think* (correct me if I'm wrong guys) that Advancing the timing will beef up your bottom end and retarding it will help out the top end. Of course one comes at the sacrifice of the other. Also I'm not sure which (retarding?) but changing the timing will make it less prone to detonation if you're having problems with that.

i dont recommend using the stock timing plate. its a hassle to cut it properly and it doesnt have the timing marks on it. a lot simpler to buy a nice timing plate like the chariot and be done with it.

most people on this site are advancing timing for motor setups. there are very few cases where someone is retarding the timing. you do have to be careful of detonation with the advance timing and sometimes higher octane fuel is called for.

I can send you a modified stock one for $30 and your stock timing plate. Its modded to +4 already. Ive done many of these and it really is a great start for modding. Snappier throttle response and a little more torque on the bottom end.

Thats cool. I never priced them. But, how much is the shipping$10-15?? You have to consider that. $35 very easily turns into $50?? Im not saying thats what they charge to ship but before blowin me up consider the shipping cost on new items. I was just giving an option bro. I should have put $25 + core and FREE SHIPPING. My bad.....I guess

If you're looking to save some coin I'd mod your stocker or go with Alf's deal. He's a good guy to deal with. If you have the money to spend, get the one loco pointed you at.
