if youre not really pounding on the shocks hard you could go with the 450 shocks, but you need to have a +2 or +3 arm to make them work right.

ive had my elkas for a long time now, but i beat on my bike pretty hard.

If money isn't a concern, go with the elkas and never look back. However if you are on a budget, the 450 shocks are absolutely the best bang for the buck. Although +2 arms are ideal, my buddy has been ridin the 450 shocks on stock arms for two seasons now.

Get your self some Elka Dune Edition shock. They are money but they have everything you could want in a shock. I have had mine for 3+ years now and never looked back. Had Works...What a shit show that was.

I am in the same boat. I am looking for cheap used elkas but I know elkas are never cheap. 450's sound great for what I want but I also dont probably have the budget for arms.

I mostly ride trails and fire access roads and woods so I dont really know what setup I actually should look to run.

I got elka's and love them , i had work, pep's and the 450 shock elka bfar the best , u can get the elka rec's for 550 cnd brand new

For what your doing I'd go with the 450 shocks. Elka is for sure a better shock but you dont need to spend that kinda money. To get an elka with remote rezzi your looking at about $1000, And you can pick up a pair of brand new take off 450 shocks for $200. You could get a set of used arms and 450 shocks for the price of just some elkas. So if I was you I'd be on the look out for some +2 arms and 450 shocks. I personally run 2009 yfz 450r shocks and a buddy of mine has elkas and I cant tell the difference by riding it, But I'm not hitting giant jumps either but in the trails whoops and all that they're awsome.

i agree with jim. it doesnt sound like you really need the elkas and i doubt you will ever be able to tell the difference between them and the 450 shocks for what youre doing. you can save yourself some money by going with the used 450 shocks and a +2 arm.

I could see if you are riding the dunes or mx track to get some elkas. But like said above, just buy some take off 450 shocks and you will have preload, compression and rebound adj. And if you want to revalve them and new springs later on, there are alot of channels out there that make after market parts for those shocks. I have them on my banshee with +2 arms for 2 dunes seasons and they have been great.
