PWK carbs worn out?

Hey Guys,

 

Don't post here much, but do read the forums quite often. Doing a budget build on my banshee, and just picked up a used pair of pwk's off ebay, supposed to be in good condition. What I noticed right away when i took them out of the box is the slides have a fair amount of slop in them. With the throttle closed if you push the bottom of them front to back there is probably 2mm of play in them? How tight are they new? Anyone come across this before and are they useable? thanks

I don't think the slides ever wear out. Clean 'em up, jet 'em accordingly and run 'em.

Mine are nice and tight. I spray them with a lite coat of cable life lube. It is designed for cables, and carb slides.

carb slides can and will get wore out, takes years but you will see erratic behaviour in idle and big bogs when you stab the throttle, almost like they do when the rings start to go.
