onjacks Posted November 20, 2009 Report Posted November 20, 2009 Just about got my 4mill complete and have a question. Hotrods 4mill crank HJR Mx port Cool Head w/ 23cc domes (93 pumpgas) 800 @ sea level Billet timing plate (+4) FMF "fattys" (for now) Hogged out stock reed cages stock carbs. question is, a buddy has a set of 34mm pwks he wants to sell me for $100. What is this gonna do for my setup? I figured that since ive got a low / mid kind of port job that the 34's would help out alot, up top. Any Input. Quote
jbooker82 Posted November 20, 2009 Report Posted November 20, 2009 I would go with PWK33's if it was up to me. They are a great carb and work well on my dune ported 4mill. Quote
locogato11283 Posted November 20, 2009 Report Posted November 20, 2009 since kevin is your builder, i would see what he recommends.. im thinking 33mm pwk. Quote
AKheathen Posted November 20, 2009 Report Posted November 20, 2009 and you may want to make sure your reeds can flow enough to keep up with the carbs. i'm thinking 30's should be enough too keep up with the topend decently, without sacrificing mid and low. Quote
sleeper06 Posted November 20, 2009 Report Posted November 20, 2009 If your friend has 34s they are pj carbs,33mm pwk is the best trail /all around carb there is,my first 4mil is similar to your set-up and ran real mean with those carbs. Quote
jbooker82 Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 I would avoid the pj's. They are an older carb. There is a reason why you can get them cheap. Pwk's are the way to go. Quote
spurdy Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 I run Kev's 4mil dune port and he recommended 35 PWKs. I was running 34 TMs and switch to the 35 PWKs when I had trouble tuning. The 35s rip with the set up I have. I would definitely give Kevin a call and see what he thinks you should run. There is a reason everyone (including me) say his customer service is great, it is because he answers questions like this! SP Quote
jlevasseur Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 Also depends on what you want to do with your bike. If you plan on drag racing I would go with something a little bigger like a 36 or 38. But for alaround duning I have 34 pj's on one of my 4 mils and 34 electrons on the others, both set up for duning and they run great. Quote
