shoopie
is it worth doing the project/conversion? i am aware of the amount of fabrication that is involved. is there any cheap way to do it effectively? or is it just not worth doing? i would love your opinions. shogs
I think if you could do it for less than what it would cost to build a really nice banshee it would be cool. It would have to be very reliable and something you can just hop on and go. I guess you can't really put a price on something thats one of a kind either though. If it turned out nice you'd probably put more money into it, and if it didn't you'd think you wasted money. All quads are money pits to some degree though
shoopie
yea, i think were gonna go for it. my friend got a gsxr600 motor for free and we've been looking for something to put it in. we thought..whats better than a banshee!? so were looking for a cheap rolling chassis. this past winter we built a lawn tractor with an XL600 4 stroke on/off motor in it. its a little "ghetto" but it runs and works great. starts shaking around 35-40mph though, pretty damn scary. Haha I bet it is pretty damn scary. If your still looking for a chasis and haven't gotten one yet look for one thats got cheap parts and a lot of room for an engine. someone else can chime in but aren't there bigger frames than a banshee? Or frames with bigger engines than a banshee.
JMADD
Yeah, the Raptor frame seems to be the most common one used.
dragbanshee98
i have seen a few guys that built the whole frame setup and with buying the motor and all they only spent 4g's total... pretty cheap if you can fab the frame urself
moneybags
I dont think it would be worth a shit for any other kinda riding but going in a strate line, and their not to fast for that ether. IMO..
shoopie
if this is the right video...im going for something like this. im pretty sure its just a modded stock banshee frame (could be wrong). im going to do all the fab work myself. i am pretty aware when it comes to welding/fabricating. been doing it for a while. www.youtube.com/watch?v=H70JOGzyTf8 would like to hear others takes on this Edited October 1, 2009 by shoopie
papa_smurf49319
First thing you got to ask yourself is what you wanna do with this bike? Second is could i build a banshee motor that would do what i want better and cheaper! which i think you could!

stclark816
My .02..... First, there are alot better frames to put a motor like that in. Something that's a little taller, like a Raptor or YFZ450 frame.. I think they look cluttered and look like ass in a banshee frame. Secondly, street bike motors in quads arent that fast. I mean, I dont know what you wanna use it for, or just want a project. But if you are tryin' to go fast, building a banshee motor would be more cost efficient IMO. And they would be much faster. bansheebarnes
i dont get why people put other engines in a banshee. i think the only really good part about the banshee is the engine. if you are going to put a rocket engine in something why not like a raptor 700 or yfz450? becasue really you are just adding weight to something that already has poor handeling.
