Natemills8 Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Go get yo some Maxima 927 that suff you used isnt clean enough for a bike my buddy did the same thing but used weedeater oil becasue it was the only thing he could find and it screw his bike up Quote
slopoke Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 First off you have determined you have spark and fire. That universal 2 cycl oil is nasty yukky stuff but will not cause fatal harm to the engine. I would not use it or reccomend using it unless an emergency. When you try to start it have you pulled the plugs to see if they are wet with gas? Is the spark blue or yellow/white? If the plugs are wet remove both of them and kick engine over several time with gas OFF. Then let it sit a while. Put the plugs in and turn the gas on for say 10 seconds. Turn gas back off. (this will let you know if the needle valves are sticking or bad seat orings) then try to start it. You may need to use new plugs again because if they were really wet they may or may not work again. IF it cranks turn gas on and see if engine starts flooding. Quote
AKheathen Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 ok, did you put that little vaccume tube back between the carbs after you cleaned them? shine a flashlight at the right of the carbs and you'll see little windows. if your slides are in correct, a little dot will appear in eah @ full throttle. did you need the choke to start it before? there is a little black box under the gas tank with a 3 wire pigtail coming off. make sure that's unplugged. lube your cable by dripping oil dowm it from the end when you remove it from the twist and work it in and out. look for pinches and kinks anywhere in the cable. (i chased that one trying to lube it for a while) Quote
Norcal_Rider Posted July 22, 2009 Author Report Posted July 22, 2009 I did check the tube between the two carbs that is correct, however i noticed the throttle slides seem to be sticking a bit, so I am going to see if I cant narrow down why that is happening, probably need to oil the cables I am assuming. After that, if that doesn't work i am going to check the plugs and what not to see if that is where the problem lyes. I'll keep you posted. Thanks! Quote
BlasterKX Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 if your slides are sticking then it could be the good ol tors system. id remove it right now just so you dont have any future headaches from it. good luck man Quote
Norcal_Rider Posted July 22, 2009 Author Report Posted July 22, 2009 Well, I have also thought TORS might have something to do with this, but not very familiar with the system itself. It just looks like all the wiring for TORS was disconnected, is there more to the story? I have seen articles where you are supposed to port out the carb, does this need to be done? Quote
Norcal_Rider Posted July 23, 2009 Author Report Posted July 23, 2009 ok, so, i got the throttle cables all lubed, and the throttle isnt sticking, also, checked that the slide valves werent sticking anymore and it seem to do the trick and they both seem to be lined up correctly. I changed the gas to a 40:1 mix. Put it all back together and it started to catch, then it would die, so I am getting somewhere??? On one of the kicks there was a backfire through the right rear exhaust, makes me a little nervous, but maybe this will isolate where my problem lyes now, hopefully I didn't just create another problem??? Let me know what you all think my next step should be, I am thinkinin, even though the plugs are new, they may need to be replaced again???- Quote
Natemills8 Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 It wouldnt hurt to pull and check your plugs Quote
Norcal_Rider Posted July 23, 2009 Author Report Posted July 23, 2009 Well, she is up and running, i pulled the plugs, dried them off, put them back in, and she fired right up. Now...on to jetting...thanks again everyone for all the help, now I need to start a thread in the jetting and exhaust forum to get the right jets for these T5's Quote
Fullthrottle02 Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 280/290 main jet, stock pilots (25), needles set on 4th groove from the top, air screw 1 1/2 turns out. This should get you close enought to fine tune it on your own. Quote
