  1. Well, she is up and running, i pulled the plugs, dried them off, put them back in, and she fired right up. Now...on to jetting...thanks again everyone for all the help, now I need to start a thread in the jetting and exhaust forum to get the right jets for these T5's
  2. ok, so, i got the throttle cables all lubed, and the throttle isnt sticking, also, checked that the slide valves werent sticking anymore and it seem to do the trick and they both seem to be lined up correctly. I changed the gas to a 40:1 mix. Put it all back together and it started to catch, then it would die, so I am getting somewhere??? On one of the kicks there was a backfire through the right rear exhaust, makes me a little nervous, but maybe this will isolate where my problem lyes now, hopefully I didn't just create another problem??? Let me know what you all think my next step should be, I am thinkinin, even though the plugs are new, they may need to be replaced again???-
  3. Well, I have also thought TORS might have something to do with this, but not very familiar with the system itself. It just looks like all the wiring for TORS was disconnected, is there more to the story? I have seen articles where you are supposed to port out the carb, does this need to be done?
  4. I did check the tube between the two carbs that is correct, however i noticed the throttle slides seem to be sticking a bit, so I am going to see if I cant narrow down why that is happening, probably need to oil the cables I am assuming. After that, if that doesn't work i am going to check the plugs and what not to see if that is where the problem lyes. I'll keep you posted. Thanks!
  5. Oh boy, I've really done it now it ake it...I just went by what he told me...boy am I learnig I should have checked on his knowledge...well all I can do is move on and know that you guys have all the proper info....and I am very thankful for all the replies thus far...still have yet to get her started, but I know we will make it...thanks again for all the advice and help I will be an informed banshee rider one of these days...so keep it comin!!!!!
  6. I was using what my friend gave me, some autozone universal 2 stroke oil...i suppose this is a bad idea as well???
  7. The pipes were already on and it had a 290 jet on it, I believe all these were installed by another friend so I am not sure as to how well the matching and tuning of the pipe and jets was? I was running 20:1 on the premix, but it sounds like I definitely need to step it up to at least a 32:1.
  8. Ok, so need to add more oil to my premix...check. Got good compression...check. Got spark and new plugs...check. So, starting to aim my finger at the carb...i have been reading that the jets need to be tuned to the exhaust? Am I reading correctly? If so, I have T5 exhaust live roughly couple hundred feet above sea level what jet size should i be using? Would the wrong jet size cause it not to start? Feel free to tell me I am an idiot...I can take a little constructive criticism once in awhile.
  9. Mix gas on the manufacture recommended 20:1. Also, just did a compression test and both sides are 120psi, this good or bad?
  10. well, just to be on the safe side i am going to run down and get a compression tester, what type of reading should I see?
  11. well, i replaced the plugs, got spark, seem to have decent compression, i have a sneaky suspicion it has something to do with the carb or throttle. it has an aftermarket twist throttle and it seems to be a bit sticky...gotta be a way i can eliminate that as an issue without going out and replacing it, i know from experience just going out and replacing what "I" think is the problem can tend to get pricy real quick.
  12. Hello All, I am new to Banshee's and this forum, but hopefully someone here can guide me in the right direction? Recently i acquired a 2000 Banshee from a friend, at first it was running with a lot of smoke coming from the exhaust. Ran it for a couple days and slowly it started having issues with bogging down when giving it full throttle. Eventually it stalled out on me and ever since I have been unable to get it to start. I know, I probably should have had a tune up and service before riding, but i just couldn't leave it be, now I am hoping permanent damage has been done. Any ideas on where I should start, I may not be an expert, but I can find my way around if just pointed in the right direction. I pulled the carbs out and looked at them, and everything seems to be clean and in working order, only thing on the carbs I didn't look at was the needle since I could not figure out how to remove the floats and did not wnnt to damage anything trying to do so. So, any ideas on what may be a common solution/problem or did I do permanent damage? Thanks for any help in advance.
