qcklys Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 Hey , i just rebuild my top end on my banshee , i'd like to know the good break in process to do before i go riding  thank you! Quote
black sunshine Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 Do 3 heat cycles. Let the motor warm up, idling, until the cylinder is hot to touch. Let cool completely, 3 times. Re-torque the head. Run the bike easily for the first tank of gas, no wide open extended periods. Quote
278 Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 start it up, fluctuate the throttle, dont let it idle or rev out, do this for 5-10 minutes untill at operating temperature then shut it off and let it cool. Do this about 3 times then re-torque all the bolts Quote

BoostedRex Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 LOL... I heat cycled mine 3 times, just to make sure there weren't any leaks and everything was torqued correctly. Then I did what you see me doing in my sig. I believe in breaking in every one of my motors in as hard as I possibly can. I have never had one fail out of about 15 engines. Besides one that was on NOS and that doesn't count... lol. Quote
locogato11283 Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 couple 5 min heat cycles.. short ride varying the throttle. then ride the fuck out of it. Quote
swrbansheeboy Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 yep... a couple heat cycles, re-torque. then beat it like a red headed step child.... http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm Quote
400rednEX Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 ive done the moto man break in on a few engines too and it works good. you can feel the power increase as you go. Quote
