Sammy Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 I'm in need of sprockets really fast. Ideally I would like 13/42/44. Here's my choices front 13/14/15 rear 40/50. Im using a 22" rear tire and I like lower gearing for hill climbs. Will a 15 tooth sprocket clear on the front and will a 50 tooth sprocket clear my aftermarket rear skid. I'm currently geared 14/44. Just drop the front to a 13 that way you dont have to mess with adding chain. You are not going to clear the skid plate or chain slide with a 50. Quote
TexasBansheeMan Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 I run a 13/46 on my climber and its just nuts!! The 46 is the biggest I could go and still get my clearance. Quote
Sammy Posted June 12, 2009 Author Report Posted June 12, 2009 Ok, let me ask this. How would going from a 20 inch rear tire to a 22 inch rear tire effect gearing. I know it would give more top-end, but per say how much? Would it be the equivalent of moving up a tooth on the front? Quote
RadarRacing Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 I'd say probably half that. I switch tires sometimes and it doesnt seem as dramatic as one tooth on the front sprocket. Try 13/40 thats still a bit lower than stock at 14/41. You can order a few differrent cheap sprockets from rocky mountain atv and get em in about 3 days. Quote
locogato11283 Posted June 13, 2009 Report Posted June 13, 2009 use this... http://home.earthlink.net/~gellett/banshee.htm Quote
swrbansheeboy Posted June 13, 2009 Report Posted June 13, 2009 if your only options for a rear sprocket are a 40 or a 50 then i would say run the 13/40. if your trying to match your current 14/44 gearing (3.14 ratio) then the 13/40 (3.07 ratio) is the closest your going to find to your current gearing with the gear options you've listed....
