87sheerips Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 OK, I am an idiot. Good, got that out of the way. When I went riding a few weeks ago, I had one tank mixed, one tank not. I forget now which is which. One is a little darker, so Im 99% sure its mixed. Just thought I would throw it out thtere to see if there is some sort of test to see what the ratio is at or something... Let me know if u have any ideas, or if you just want to bash this post; thats fine too! Quote
rubberneck Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 Taste it..... Just kidding. Man i dont know. I know it kind of monday morning quarterback, but I put a zip tie on the handle whenever i mix fuel. Then there is no guessing. AS SOON as its empty i cut it off so there is no way it can accidentally be refilled and thought to be mixed. If in doubt, id use it to burn ant hills. No sense in toasting a motor Quote

pinned247 Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 You could fill another tank with gas and mix it...and see which one looks like the one you just mixed....then you'd have a better idea. Just a thought. Quote
doorslammer Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 dump it all in the missus car and tell her she owes you gas money  Quote
RagunCajun Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 The answer is simple. Disguard both containers and buy new gas and mix it properly. It's pretty stupid to test it out and screw up the engine. Quote

This was just one of those early morning questions I wanted to get a few opinions on. I would not risk running shit gas, I just built this motor! Quote
zach45 Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 i do the same shit all the time... the castor 927 turn the gas almost teal... i label my gas cans now... the zip tie thing is a good idea.. Quote
1996dragshee Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 I've got so many cans that say mix on them and cans that don't.i've been through hell and back trying to figure out which ones i've mixed because i was in a hurry and just grabbed any can.I finally said fuck it and i run 32:1 super techniplate in all my shit. Some things smoke a little bit more than others but at least i know the rings are getting oiled And i finished all that and just now noticed this is about turbo blue...now i'm the idiot :shoothead: .I have nothing usefull to say on this subject..carry on Quote
BellicoseBanshee Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 When my Pingel was leaking, the 112 fuel I run would evaporate and leave red oil on the valve, and before I used thread sealer on my billet bowls, they would seep leaving red oil on them as well after the fuel evaporated. Maybe you could pour some from each in two small cups and see which one has oil in it when the fuel evaporates. Do equal amount from the two suspected cans. Use white cups. I always put a strip of masking tape down the side of my cans, and use a Sharpie to mark the fuel level and tag the cans as mixed, ratio, etc. Quote
lowbuckracing Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 poor a little of each on a white rag or towel, then see what one has oil left behind  Quote
baudy Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 dump it all in the missus car and tell her she owes you gas money  Kind of along the lines I was thinking...and make sure it is in full....Turbo Blue is not Cheap!! Quote

Thanks for the input guys.. Yea, Im NOT wasting $6/gallon fuel! Quote
cb6979 Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 now I like how u guys are thinking, white rag test and cup test it is.. Thanks for the input guys.. Yea, Im NOT wasting $6/gallon fuel! Mix both cans together, and add enough oil to make it 50:1 or whatever your running. Quote
Hilarious Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 Taste it..... that's what i used to do. i use 927 and it would leave a faint "fried chicken" taste whereas the unmixed fuel was really dry .............. mixed fuel will leave an oily residue. Quote
