Hopefully you don't need a re-build. I would run a compression test on it and see where your at. Quote

Give us some detail on it, like what kind of pipes, jetting. I know you said you put it back to stock but can you tell us the size of jetting just to be sure. Any other mods at all, and your elevation, tempertures. Quote
CaNaDa_NS Posted February 12, 2009 Author Report Posted February 12, 2009 bike has stock head pipes with cobra slip ons, jetting is main 200, pilot 25, needle clip on 3rd position and has kn air filter with an outerwear. air box is all stock no holes drilled. elevation would alwasy be under 500ft. also back fires out of the right side. motor was supposedly rebuilt by the previous owner but that dont mean much with a 2 stroke. it's not bored out i know that for sure. plugs are tan after running tonight. pretty much gotta tow it to get it to go everytime or severly kick ur guts out Quote

I would run a compression test on it and see where your at. what he said ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ also....is the choke tube on? are the carb slides in correctly? are the intakes showing any cracking? are the reeds good? sounds like a fuel delivery issue to me...but i could be wrong. AKheathen Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 unplug your tors box under the gas tank, across from the coil. little 3wire plug. then, set your airscrews at 2 turns out, and see if it starts and idles. stock jets will blow the motor Quote
Klaus Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Dude, Check your float bowls!! Very important that they are right way around. Quote

Fireroad Express Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 i got a set of stock carbs here with a tors removal kit on them. they are yours real cheap if you want em. the above suggestions are all real good and i'd check all of them. where in NS are you from? oh yeah, welcome to the BHQ! Quote
blaster2006 Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 unplug your tors box under the gas tank, across from the coil. little 3wire plug. then, set your airscrews at 2 turns out, and see if it starts and idles. stock jets will blow the motor why 2 turns out? stock is 1 and 1/2 turns out, so 2 turns would make it take more air.. he wants more fuel in since hes got K&N filters. and you need bigger main jets if you put K&Ns, check if the fuel petcock is working fine... and put your airscrew at 1 turn out. CaNaDa_NS Posted February 12, 2009 Author Report Posted February 12, 2009 i just put the stock jetting in it last night just to try it to see what it does and it acts the exact same as if it has the kn kit in it. there is no tors on the carbs they are gone. i checked the plugs with the stock jetting and it is tan so it ain't running lean. it's a carb issue why it won't stay running i'd say. got the idle screws adjusted way out and it still won't idle it should at least idle fast Quote
jjn56 Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 I would do a compression test before I went any futher. The testers are $25.00 at harbor freight. Just take your plug out and screw in the tester and kick it hard at WOT. It seems strange he said it was rebuilt but not bored over at all. I would bore over to make sure I had clean cylinder walls. CaNaDa_NS Posted February 12, 2009 Author Report Posted February 12, 2009 how many psi's should it have? Quote
blaster2006 Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 it should have 120-130. and not more than 5psi difference. but if they both have over 110.. ( still 5 psi difference), it does not explain your problems. only if it has like 90-100 etc then its really bad. will it idle well if you keep holind in the throttle at like 1/16 throttle?( bearly pushing it in) Quote
