  1. Hahahaha. Be nice now!!
  2. Could it be that there are grooves in the clutch basket? I don't know lock up clutches at all, so please excuse if that isn't a great reply. haha.
  3. This shit just doesn't roll. Damn. I always try make extra sure when buying stuff. I have have Vin and Engine nr's checked for stolen goods. You can never be too careful with stuff like that. It's just unacceptable that people can do stuff like that without a conscience(if that was the case - although evidence seems rather conclusive).
  4. Not sure at all. The came off a Suzi RG Gamma.
  5. No jokes, I was running 230 mains. Ran 280 mains in the stock Banshee carbs, put the 280's in the flat slides and the bike would splutter. Even on the dyno, it wouldn't hit the powerband ( would stop at 25hp odd ). We then fitted 260's ( going from the 280's), and still it wouldn't run into the power-band. The guys thought my cdi was shot, that it didn't advance, the one guy suggested pulling off the air-filter and giving it a run then, wham 59hp... Everyone was dumbstruck. The porting on the RD differs quite a bit from the Banshee, the inlets are smaller too. My elevation is 4500ft Somehow I think I was running 22.5 pilots.
  6. Think I found a nice 2006 to play with... Hold thumbs guys.
  7. I'm busy with exams for the next week, but after that, I'll be looking for a stocker or even one with aftermarket pipes, as long as I can get hold of stock pipes too...This could be fun!!!
  8. Looks like I've opened a can of worms with this post... Does anyone know hos the stuff inside the exhaust is kept there? Can it just be pulled out of is it spot-welded? Wont you be able to rip it out by sticking a wire through the exh opening?
  9. Hi Dudes I ran a RD350 motor (non-pv) in my banshee, 28mm Mikuni's, fmf gold series pipes that was pretty much that, I had heaps of bottom and mid, but power felt as if it dropped off very soon. I ended running 230 mains, it was still a tad rich, cant rem the pilots though, the rest I just played with the needle. Regards M
  10. I agree with the reeds theory. You may have one petal that isnt closing, it may even be broken. The balance tube will cause both carbs to overflow even if it's just the reeds in one cylinder. Could be anything I guess, but the reeds are easy enough to check.
  11. Guys... I like where this is going!!!!!!!!
  12. Go for Pro Circuits dude!!
  13. I think I know what my next project will be... The Ultimate sleeper... I spoke to some friends, we sort of came to the conclusion porting a shee with stock pipes, should put you in the ballpark of an unported piped shee, maybe a bit more, who knows. Doesn't sound like many have attempted porting a shee with stock pipes. I also though about shaving the stock head to get the comp up as much as I can and sort the squish gap too. Should have a nice linear power curve too.
  14. Hi Guys!! Something that I was wondering about, What would power gains be if you port a Banshee with a stock exh system? I know the stocker restricts the engine quite a bit. If you could squeeze a few HP out of it, and still retain the stock look, it could be a pretty nice sleeper. What do you guys rate one could expect in gains???
  15. Hmm, I'l mention these things to him. Head and domes are Pro design, brand new. Thanks guys.
  16. Hey guys. A friend of mine rebuilt his shee, and fitted a cool head with 20cc domes. It seems to me as if the bike is running rich. It has a stutter just before the powerband and smokes a lot. My question is, will a bike run richer if you bump up the compression? I just cant seem to get my mind around that question. And if so, why? Thanks.
  17. Dont you mean less torque? Or less power too? Like I said above, I believe as long as an engine is on operating temp, it can be ridden hard. On a 4t oil temp must be warm, not just water temp. A lot of people differ with me, but everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. Whatever works for you.
  18. Cos I'm running a 12/41 sprocket setup and make 52 hp on the dyno. But my gears are so short I run the engine into the "over rev" zone in 6th very easily. I actually have to back off the throttle for a bit, then I can open up again. When I'm WOT in 6th he my friend shifts to 4th, haha, but that said he is running 16/41. I bought a 14 t front sprocket, it must just go on. He made 69 on the same dyno, but his shee is ported and running domes etc. I just have a stock RD motor. I must take the bike back, she is running very rich and has a bog just under the powerband.
  19. Ned thats the exact website I was referring to, thanks man. Any comments on the gearing and dyno?
  20. Hey guys, Do any of you guys break in a fresh rebuild, as in not ride hard until the motor has run a tank or two of fuel? I rebuilt my top end, it ran for a couple of minutes, just for me to check everything was running good, then I took her for a dyno and rode hard the next day. I believe that as long as a engine is on operating temp, it can run hard, if you take the simple example, a piece of cold steel will snap if bent, but heat that same piece of steel up and you can bend it back and forth... I read an article on some or other website that rings only have a certain time period in which they can seat, this is just after the rebuild. On the website it is said that on a engine which runs hard just after being rebuilt, the rings tend to seat better because the hone marks on the cylinders are "sharp" enough to make the rings seat. Once the hone marks have been worn down it takes longer for the rings to seat and they tend to not seat as well as a engine which has been run hard from the start. Another thing, will sprockets influence a dyno readout? Some people say yes, some say no. Some say torque will be influenced but not hp. What do you guys think bout these two topics??
  21. Would you say it's a bog, or more of a hesitation? As I understand, a bog means too rich whereas if the bike feels like it hesitates, it's lean. Are your carbs and jets clean? It can be many things. How does your bike start when warm? Can you start it on a cold day without the choke?
  22. Hey guys. Mine did the same, I did the post a while back on float bowls being switched around. Just check that they are the right way around, if they arnt, your choke circuit will not work.
  23. I was going to refer you guys to my friend, 2strokespirit, but I'm glad to say, he found this post before me. Hahaha.
  24. Hey dudes I have a set of those 2, running 280 mains and 20 pilots, seems to run rich, haven't ridden yet though. I'm running a RD 350 motor in my shee. Elevation +- 4500ft temp 15-35 degrees Celsius.
  25. No worries, hope it helped.
