toolucky Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 My bike is stuck in 5th gear so i was told to check the shift shaft. i was just draining the tranny oil and it seems to have a lot of shavings. The magnet on the drain bolt was pretty much covered and i could see shavings coming out into my drain pan, they werent that big but im not sure what is normal Quote

uwenr Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 mine seams fine but i just drained my oil and have shavings in it also wtf! Shift forks, not expensive but you have to split the cases to get to them. Quote
locogato11283 Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 sounds like splitting the cases is in order. stuck in fifth? sounds like you might have bent a shift fork and thats where the shavings are coming from. Quote

[/quo Never mind. I found out the shavings are coming from three broken bolts on the back of the clutch basket. im pretty sure thats what caused the siezure at idle that i thought was the pistons, if any of you saw my earlier post about that Quote

LS1Inferno Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 are you running an aftermarket clutch basket? i like loco am wondering what bolts your refering to..... hes got to mean the riviots or bolts in a aftermarket that hold the baket to the gear. Uhh that does NOT sound pretty. Quote

KaosBanshee44 Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 Probably aftermarket basket and the bolts backed out and then the gears grinded them down. Just my guess...lol Quote
toolucky Posted February 12, 2009 Author Report Posted February 12, 2009 Probably aftermarket basket and the bolts backed out and then the gears grinded them down. Just my guess...lol yeah its a hinson basket. 4 bolts and a metal plate, it broke three bolts and bent the steel plate. also chipped the case around the crank seal. I need to post pics so you guys can tell me if i will need another case half or if this one can still b used Quote
