VWMIKE Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 Just putting back together the shee after taking it apart and cleaning things up, and to see what the previous owner had done to it. I know there is a gasket between the reed cage and cyl. But what about the intake manifold to reed cage? Mine had no gaskets just sealant, is this normal? The online microfiche only shows 1 gasket per side as well? Just wondering what everyone uses. thanks Mike Quote
locogato11283 Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 gasket only between intake/reeds and then between reeds/cylinder. Quote
87sheerips Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 Stock comes with only 2 gaskets. I get extras and run 4, but seems to be fine either way.. Just cheap piece of mind for me! -JD Quote
CBAIER1206 Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 Yeah, should be a total of 4 gaskets...2 per side, one for each side of the reed, I also put a thin bead of 1211 sealer on each of the gasket surfaces, front and back, to make sure I have a perfect seal every time. Quote
csrmel Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 use 4 gaskets and sealer. works great every time. Quote

X2 on that shit, thats what we did 4 gaskets and 1211 like stated xtra insurance. Quote
dajogejr Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 use 4 gaskets and sealer. works great every time. Word. I use a thin coat of RTV, ANY RTV, on either side of both gaskets, per side. I know the gasket alone should be enough...but with how bad air leaks are for these, what's 10 extra minutes to put a skim coat on the gaskets? The reed cages and intakes need to be sealed.... Quote
