RIPPEN Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 think its part of the back brake assmbly. newer part on new quads... it sounds like your impellor gear.. hows it cooling? sounds like its slipping... Thats the first thing that came to mind for me as well.. The sound of it deffinatly sounds like more of a plastic sound.. First option is like these guys are saying is drop it off at the dealer and tell them to make it better, after a couple days even if you DON"T have a warenty that would be pretty chicken shit to blow you off.. Otherwise I would take a look at that impeller.. Oh and me personaly I wouldn't ride it untill its fixed, even if it is something simple its better safe than sorry.. RIPPEN Quote
STIMULATE Posted January 6, 2009 Author Report Posted January 6, 2009 Just got back from the dealer. The service manager said not to worry about it. Mentioned that most banshees are rattly and noisey by nature and said nothing seemed out of the ordinary. He also explained that over time as the bike loosens up, it will rattle it's head off. He said if I was concerned about the rattle, just ride it like I stole it and try and break it. That way it's easier to find and fix LOL. Catch is, I have to do it in under 90 days! Quote
bonbon Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 Better get to breaking then! Uhhh....I mean riding! Quote
mason07shee Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 yeah man bought my 07 off the floor new! and 0 i repeat 0 days of warranty on a "racing" quad or dirt bike in canada! its bullshit but what can you do and my she only makes a racket when its cold and vibrates like a bitch it will make your feet numb but goes away over half throttle and as soon as it gets warm it works perfect just the first 3-5 min of riding Quote
firebanshee Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 It looks to me like it is that black plastic piece by the brake light switch is what is making the noise.Have you tried to stop it from moving and see if the noise goes away? Quote

I have seen MANY banshee's over the years and have never heard a sound quite like that, ah good ol dealerships.. However you did your part and so I would ride the piss out of it.. Keep us updated.. STIMULATE Posted January 6, 2009 Author Report Posted January 6, 2009 Have checked all the plastic bits etc. None of that appears to be causing the rattle What was weird though.... I let it idle for ages today to get it up to operating temp. Funny enough.... the noise isn't there?? WTF! However: After I give it 3-4 hard runs of 300m sprints the noise is there. So it's almost as if the box gets to a certain temp and it starts to rattle. My money is on the kicker gear or something inside there somewhere. The service manager checked to see if the kicker gear was disengaging and it was so go figure I guess. Maybe try a different box oil? Oil is very odd. It is clear and very thin!? Bike shop down the road has a wall full of Motul stuff. I've had nothing but good experiences with that stuff. Oh well - time to beat the living shit out of it and see what happens from here. All in all very happy with the bike, even if it does make some odd noises. Quote
YTRY4 Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 Good idea, change the oil and see if it makes any difference. Where are you from dan? Canada? Quote
