Nieskes Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 My banshee has been running fine since yesterday. It just turned off and now it will only start when im pulled and backfires kinda bad, but as soon as i let off the throttle it turns off? I think it could be my rings or upper gasket but not to sure.. Any help would be great! Quote

Nieskes Posted January 2, 2009 Author Report Posted January 2, 2009 Parking break removed along time ago, tors still hooked up, i uplugged it but still nothing. I took the carbs out cleaned and soaked them. Then i was out of ideas so came on here. I havent checked reeds. Engine is stock bore, just piped and fmf reeds. I only run on the ice and it was about 4degrees out when this happened. Ive drove it in this type of weather for several years. Also now when kicking it over it just pops, very strange sound tho. 88bansheebitch Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 check the compression in the cylinders...110-135psi should be about right on a stock bore.if you have less than that its time for some new rings.. Quote
AKheathen Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 after you check your reeds and compression, check you're stator and fly wheel. what do your plugs look like? you replaced them right? Quote
Nieskes Posted January 2, 2009 Author Report Posted January 2, 2009 after you check your reeds and compression, check you're stator and fly wheel. what do your plugs look like? you replaced them right? went threw 2 stators last year, dident understand why. And ya i put new plugs in right away, im going to check compression today. Quote

jimbob Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 plenty of fuel? petcock working ok? sorry to state the obvious but mistakes have been made before. lol Quote
Nieskes Posted January 2, 2009 Author Report Posted January 2, 2009 alright reeds are fine, couldent check compression but i dont think thats the problem. Only thing i think it could be now is the tors but i dont know how i could check if it is. I unplugged the box under the tank and kicked it over but it would just backfire. I dont have my flywheel puller anymore, but i took the cover off and everything looks to be ok. Im getting plenty of spark also so... im stumped again. I went to a dealer in town, they told me its 89$ per hour just to tell me whats wrong i said fk that. Quote

Quote
Nieskes Posted January 2, 2009 Author Report Posted January 2, 2009 Its backfireing out of the pipes. Ill check the wire tonight. I just dont understand that when im pull started it will stay running until i pull the clutch or let off the throttle. Quote
