Its not too bad on mine,I'm running Deltas and 21cc dome size.I also have the spark arrestor silencer,so I think the extra backpressure helps the mid out. I sorta like it.I've got good power to 3/4 throttle and 3/4 and up feels like a Nitrous shot. I think I saw an auto pilot assist kit for the banshee on ebay

What Are The Best Adjustable A-arms..
Nightrider replied to STLbanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Those are some beefy looking a-arms.At least there reinforced around the shock mounts. Houser makes a real nice set of a-arms also. -
That sounds F-ing fast for gas and a stock mill if you ask me. The CR500 cylinder I'm running was done by Mp racing. So I can respect that. Stock with a 4'' over swingarm and lowered.,It bested a 5.06@61mph on dirt. I have yet to run it at 300ft with the porting, and bigger carb.So I'm not going to guesstimate or bullshit ya. I ran the 1/4 on asphalt though in 12.50's at 101-102 and I know I have a slip for that run. It still needs a "real" drag pipe so hopefully it will make an improvement. 300ft isn't exactly where this bike will shine either,Like Duece said ask anyone who runs the big hills. The 500 will always be faster when you stretch it out. 4.5 still sounds fast to me,On alky most definitely, but on gas or stock mill,I have never seen one personally.

Dual rate with rezzies will probably work for me I guess.I'd love the elkas but 800 smackers..Whoa!I've got other machines that need things too so I have to share the wealth. Increasing ride time is a big plus.I think everyone here knows how abusive the Shee's suspension is. Thanks for the replies fellas.

And thats why I drive a truck! That was some pretty funny shit.I'm still laughing about the boost bottle/eye candy comment.

Wat Are Some Reasons That A
Nightrider replied to frocashmoney24's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Dude, get ready to get f-ed.I lost a CR250 because of the same situation. The bike was impounded and my lawyer asked me if I knew its origin.I told him I wasn't sure,so he told me to forget about the bike and accept the loss. The bike was an 87' and I couldn't trace it back to the original owner. He told me that if I went to claim it and it came up stolen that I could be prosecuted.I will "NEVER" buy a bike without a title again. -
I've been riding bikes for almost 20 years,I had a YZ490 before my CR500 and I had an RM500 before that, take my word for it,I can "race" my 500. 300lbs is pretty light,I find that hard to believe, even so you should be easy money. Lefty,a group of us may be coming that way in March by way of Arizona.Going to check out Glamis.I'll let you know.I'll have my Banshee,Cr500,Raptor and possibly a KFX700.How far are you from Glamis? Are there any other dunes close to you?

You can argue with me all day MOONEY,but the fact still remains that you are slower than the bikes. I know that you have a ported Banshee(with CPI's) and that makes yours the fastest machine in the world or so your feeble mind believes. I also have a very fast Banshee,so what I'm telling you is what I know.I raced alot of Banshees,Raptors DS650,YZF450,CRF450 and so on.You claim you had one race with a bike and beat it.Or so you say. Anyone who has raced a big bore 2stroke will tell you the same, its hard to compete with the power to weight ratio of a bike that caliber. Why don't you "DRAG" your sorry ass motor back to the engine builder for some extra work and make sure you tell him that you want to beat some open class 2stroke bikes. Then let me know what the bill came out to. Who are you calling an idiot, you can't even spell my screen name right.
-
I'm sorry I ever started this argument with you MRMOONEY,I can see your just some punk kid who thinks he has a world beater. If you had an ounce of brains in your head, you would realize that bikes always have the advantage. Thats why I'm convinced that you've never raced a bike,The more you argue, the more stupid you make yourself look. I weigh 185 and my CR500 tips the scale at 230,so do the math or haven't you gotten that far in school yet? Just for you MOONEY...185+230+70h.p=me kicking your ass over and over again. I rest my case.
-
OOO!.. full drag port and CPI's,I've raced alot of guys who thought they were fast just like you. You've never lost to a dirtbike because you've never really raced one,Have you? I love to beat down guys like you.And I know your type, you'll just make some excuses up about your bike not running right. Banshees and Raptors are always quick to jump out there and get a beating.I've gotten more challenges on that bike than on my shee.People just want to see how they stack up against a 500. So go bullshit someone else.If all you got is a ported 350 or even a ported 420 on gas then take your sorry ass motor back to the engine shop and have them do some real work to it. What a friggen joke!
-
I've beat alot of ported bikes, but none that were on alky.Your gonna need every bit of gearing you can get.My 500 tops out around 108-110 and it gets there in a hurry. I'll tell you what to do,race him 300ft,its the best chance you'll have to take a win. After 300ft its just a matter of how bad he wants to embarrass you. Those bikes stock put out 60 hp and 50ftlbs torque. Mine dynos 70 h.p and 53 ft lbs torque. That torque and the fact the bike weighs about 150 less than yours is the main factors.
-
Worth every penny my friend. Not too bad to install either.Just take your time, clean&prep all surfaces before reinstalling clutch cover and water pump cover. And you'll have a cooler running shee. Also remember to be careful with the bearings put some oil on the shaft before installing the new impeller.
-
MrMooney,I have to disagree with you there buddy.I have a CR500 and a Banshee and I can tell you from experience that on an even start, you will get your ass handed to you by the 500.And your gonna need alot to beat a 250.So I wouldn't gloat about your half ass race. Your gonna need about 80-90 h.p to take a 500. Lefty,it all depends if your friend can "ride" By the time I set the front tire down,I'm shifting into fourth.
-
The spark arrestor silencers really help the PC pipes in the lower regions of the RPM and help smooth out the powerband. My shee isn't ported yet,so I don't know if they hinder the effects of porting or maximum flow, but I would assume so.A little added backpressure is always good for some extra grunt.

Cheeseburger curls and cup cake push-ups don't count. And i'm with Nyuk and Bignasty1.Definitely a rough crowd.

Wanting To Put A Cr500 Motor In My Shee
Nightrider replied to limitied03's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I'll tell you why, because stock a CR500 puts out about 60 horsepower and 50 ft lbs of torque and the Cr500's havent changed in 15 years, much like the banshee engine, which makes parts easy to find. AS for reliability the CR500s are one of the best big bore 2strokes -
If its running good up "until" the midrange, then your needles may need a slight adjustment. If the switching the mains jets don't work for you, then the next step would be lowering the needle one notch.
-
Seriously, some of these threads are starting to get real stupid. How or why would you even compare a R6 to a banshee? Can people be that oblivious to how fast those cafe bikes are?
-
Yea..you might be 6'5"...around your waistline. You should have been more specific and told us that was your belt size.
-
Because banshees aren't dump trucks and thats what you need to haul a payload like that.
-
At 285 lbs, your gonna need a god dang rocket up your ass to catch a Cr80 for christ sakes let alone a 125. If I was 285,theres no way in hell I'd be riding a banshee.Zilla maybe, but not a shee. Those boost bottles are eye candy, but that doesn't mean you can eat it.

inline coolers bigger the better...
Nightrider replied to 98bonerSTOCKshee's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I got the foam from a Home depot. It is 1 inch by 1 inch block foam and it comes in a roll about 6 ft long. You'll find it where the door sealers and camper tape are. There is no adhesive on it.All you have to do is run the strip around the radiator,Once the shroud is installed, the foam is trapped. It comes in gray and you don't even notice its in there.I highly recommend it for anyone with cooling problems. I would recommend taking it out in temps under 50 degrees, otherwise your engine will never reach operating temperature. -
You can gear it all you want and carve your swingarm like a thanksgiving turkey, but you don't stand a chance if he knows how to ride. Bikes have the advantage when it comes to power and weight. When I'm on my banshee I stay away from bikes,When I'm on my dirtbike,I hunt them like the turkeys they are.
-
No,I adjusted them right to the manuels specs. .800-.880 from where the bowl meets the body.I'm using the bottom of a dial caliper,so I know the measurement is right on the money. One side leaks, but the other won't unless I rock the machine side to side? They were within .005 of each other. Could the metal tang on the float be weak? Sometimes I'll stand the quad up when I spray it off, could this cause the float to stick? Its driving me nuts cause I'm sick of pulling the carbs off.Like I said,it would be o.k for a couple rides, then it will start pissing again. The worst part about it is,it doesn't effect the machines performance what so ever, its just annoying to see a puddle in my garage the size of lake michigan when I first walk in there.
-
I don't understand these friggen Banshee carburators?I just re-adjusted the floats about a month ago and I rode twice since then. Now the overflow tubes start filling up slowly when I turn the gas on and I do have a high quality fuel filter. I purposely set the floats to the highest setting in the manuel,so It would seal up good when the bowls filled up.Now the one side is leaking again. I figure, the fuel needle and the seat is worn.how could this be?Its an 01'I have a 93'Cr500 and 86'cr125,not to mention a Yamaha Virago 1100 and 90'ex500.None of these other machines have ever had problems with their fuel needles or needed "ANY" adjustment to their floats. Is there a good aftermarket needle&seat that anyone could recommend?I'm F-ing sick of dealing with this crap.
