Yes, won't hurt it at all, you can switch the plug wires without any issues. That outa tell you if it's something on that cyl or the plugwire/coil...if it's still shitting out on the left cyl after switching the plug wires, then I'd check the reeds on that cyl & go from there as I stated in the other post. Of course, if it's the reeds, replace both sides. I gotta jet, I'll try & stop by tomorrow to see what ya found.

Sounds half-ass kinda like what mine was doing...Try switching the plug wires to see if it causes the other cyl to act the same way--if it does, then I'd say coil. If no, check your reeds, then test the stator, then a new coil; in that order if it were me... Let us know what you find. If you look at where the plug wires attach to the coil, there's a little clip on them so it seems as if they were made to come out. But I can tell you that any stealership or magazine will 99.9% of the time make you buy a whole new coil, I've never seen or heard of anyone just purchasing/replacing plug wires.

you can have it rebuilt...try a search & you'll see tons of posts on that. For a quick fix, tak the shifter off, throw a rubber washer on there & reinstall the kicker. Cheap & 'rigged, but it works for me, I think I'm on my 3rd or 4th washer in the past couple years.

Did you bend back the locking-tab on the washer? lefty-loosey right?(not trying to be captain obvious...but...all of us have our days ) Mine was a bitch too, I sprayed the shit out of it with WD and let it set for a night & repeated the process the next day when it still didn't want to budge, finally it came off just fine. I'm definately loving, to say the least, the 15 tooth with the -2 swinger. May check & see if any of the stator wires got kinked or nicked...also may check the gap on the pickup coil while you're in there. Just some suggestions...

May check with your local machine shop or even some automotive repair places...just need some alum. tubing....hell, may even check lowes or home depot. PM bdbanshee

For future reference, try the 'repairs & mods' section for a quicker & better response. Perhaps a mod will migrate this post there for ya... Also, mods & info on the bike(never too much) will help too. I'd start with the simple shizzle...clean air filter? tried cleaning the carbs? Jetting? How's the plugs look? Done a compression check by chance? Welcome to the HQ!

Been 'round...staying busy & looking for work still. Since I now only have blazing 26.4k connectivity, my online time has dropped from about 40hrs a week @ work to about 4 a week if I'm lucky. You may check & see if the shift forks are bound up on the shift star...see if the teeth on it that move the pegs on the shift star are off or have popped into the center of the star. Would be my 1st suggestion anyway, the forks should be facing like a 'C' though, yes... Welcome to the HQ.

I don't believe it's a banshee sprocket hub myself, don't thing the sizes changed amongst the years... Got me interested though...update the post when you figure what's up... ...anyone...anyone....bueller....anyone?

If you have the correct puller, removing the flywheel is a piece of cake. Replacing the stator is a breeze...here's some pics of mine that oughta help you out a bit. * If you're installing a Ricky Stator adjustable stator & it doesn't fit, don't freak out, you may just have to grind on it a bit by where the mounting bolts go to get it to slide in...you'll see what I'm talking about once you get to it. You can kinda see in this pic where it wasn't sliding in... If you have problems...the HQ will be here.

Damn...this thread's still a hop'n eyh? Well wtf do ya know...I'm still smoking! But if it makes any of ya feel any better, I'm *trying* to quit...best way to save money I can think of...however, at this time it's not working out all that great.

If I'm understanding this...you theres a plug wire that doesn't allow whichever cyl it's on to fire? If that's the case, you may unscrew the cap, clip the wire a snatch hair & rescrew it on to make sure it's got a good connection, asside from that, If you're still having the same issues, I'd say probably coil. If it's the stator it'll most likely be firing, but backfiring, or nothing at all on either cyl...most likely similar symptoms if it's the cdi, probably no spark at all though. Hope that made sense & helped.

DO NOT use any other puller other than the correct puller...you risk damaging the flywheel, fo shizzle. Do yourself a favor & save the time & headache, spend the $10 at the local stealer for the correct puller.

What's up all! Feels like it's been forever since I've been around here...this is actually the 1st time I've even been online in over a month now since being laid off. Finally got my pc setup at home & am now back online. Won't be able to spend as much time as I used to on here, but I'll still be around... Anyhoo...a little about what's been going on with me lately. Since me being on here last I've gotten back together with my ex...I know, I know ....but it's a good thing since we just found out recently that there's a future zephead in the works!! Yep, ledofthezep's got a future banshee rider on the way! And for those wondering, yes we were back together before this was found out...so it's not a "we're back together just because" type of a deal, thank god. Either way, no turning back now; I'm doomed. All is well though and we're both happy...as of now anyway! This year so far has most definately been the craziest I can recall in my life, but as I've always said; everything happens for a reason. In other news...the banshee is back up & screaming, for a while I'd thought I had maybe hosed the stock topend finally. Checked the compression & both cyl's were still tits @ 150lbs...ended up hosing the left cyl reeds. Cleaned her up real good & installed some spacers & boyseen reeds. Was wanting VForce reeds, but I'm having to save some money. Am now in the process of installing a 15tooth front sprocket finally. The EX is now most likely going to be sold, not in any big hurry; but I can't refuse a good offer at this point in time. Hoping like hell it doesn't come down to me having to part with the shee. Gotta get back to my job searching, just figured I'd stop in to let those who were wondering WTF happened with me that I have not as of yet fell off this side of the planet. Catch up to ya all l8r.
