May be parting with my shee
ledofthezep replied to ledofthezep's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I hear you all...thnx for the compliments & concerns. You guys are all stating things that I am pondering...although I have no complaints about my banshee at all & love riding it; I really don't get as much seat time as I'd like. With as nice as it is I hate riding it anywhere other than the dunes. I bet I have a total of maybe 4hrs on it since the rebuild. I've even kicked around the idea of trying to sell it outright to get my financial situation fixed, but have been holding off waiting to see if our house is going to sell 1st. The only time I ride it pretty much is at the dunes...and it's the bomb-shizzle on the sand. Usually, I'll wind up riding the EX around my trails & with buds around here because there's no where really around here that will allow me to ride the banshee to it's potential. And ever since I got rid of my TTR I've wanted another bike, but a bigger one that I could dual sport & ride back & forth to work--total of 15-20 miles. I have no doubt that I'd want another banshee, and no doubt that I could get one again...but I could always get an XR down the road too...decisions decisions. I inherited the dune buggy, built it with my dad & it was his pride and joy; we spent a lot of time together working on & cruise'n that thing, I'd part with all my toys before I got rid of his buggy. So I dunno...as of now, the banshee is going to stay. If anything happens otherwise, I'll keep ya posted and whether you all like it or not, still a die-hard HQ member. -
I just use a gasket sealer/maker & have never had any problems. I wouldn't...seems that would defeat the purpose of sealing it, a hole would let in moisture & oxygen...even if it would drain, there would still be moisture & oxygen...thus hardcore rust.
-
If shee was running ok, you should be fine just cleaning up the rust a bit & just make sure that you use some sort of sealant between the case & cover when you put your stator cover back on.
-
Yepper...I'd check compression & then get to cleaning carbs if compression checks out ok.

Let the bashing begin j/k...considering a trade for a brand spanking new 04 XR400 dirtbike(plus accessories?--may be a determining factor) from a local stealership. As far as I know 04 is the last year for the XR400. I had been up there a while back asking them if they had anymore XR400's & they didn't at the time so I told them to let me know when they came across one or had one boxed up--thinking I might actually have some $$ to spare...not! Well I get an Email today from the stealership saying they got a brand new XR400 in and are taking offers on it because they need to get rid of their 04 inventory...and they will accept trades. So I dunno...I don't really want to part with the banshee, but I've always had a chub for an XR400 that I could dual sport. + Banshees are going for a bit less than nothing these days, so I know in the future picking one up & rebuilding it won't be a problem...but I've grown quite partial to mine after all the time & money I've spent on it. Dunno what I'm gunna do though and have made no promisses to the stealer. I'll still have the EX to tinker around on & I also got my dune buggy too which I've been neglecting due to the banshee. What do you guys think? I know my banshee, to me anyway, is worth more than this bike; but could I actually sell it for what I got into it--hell no. Anway; here's a pic...

used ATF in the cases last weekend

Same here...info found here on the good 'ol HQ convinced me to switch after installing an aftermarket HD clutch. No complaints & like Justintoxicated said, if I don't run cheap pre-mix, why run cheap case oil? -

werd. Wish him the best. -
Pretty sure... My Spanish isn't all that great. I'm still running King's Turbo Paddles - only have an 8 paddle option, but they're half the price of skats & seem to wear good soo far. I went from 9 paddle haulers on a stock swingarm & now 8paddles with the -2 arm, so I figure with the shorter arm I could spare a paddle...no complaints. Got mine @ Jim's too...$160 ready to bolt on.
-
I agree. M

Much better traction, handling, & in-air maneuverability; I installed my +2+1 arms at the same time & it was a night/day difference. I'lll never go + unless I intend to do some dragg'n.

Sounds like your shift forks may be out of wack,...here's some info on the shift star mod...http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37031&hl=shift+star+mod

You'll need to be able to shift before modifying the shift star will do you any good...try a search.

Classic Rock & Heavy Metal for me.

Not sure, I couldn't find a website for them...have you tried contacting the seller about one? Are you missing the mount or just the spacers? If just the spacers, you could probably get some at a hardware store or just use washers.

Big Titties or Small Titties? Whats best?

Thanks guys...looks like I may have to look into getting some el gato's...or my mom will anyway. The beagle will sniff them out & chase them; but doesn't quite have the skills to snag'm--he'd rather chase them & act a fool. Maybe she'll get a male & female that'll breed so I can work on my skeet shoot'n skills. . thanks again!

I'm getting ready to move back out to the farm with my mom for a while to help her out with some stuff & finish some things up that my dad never was able to finish before he kicked the bucket....anyway she's been having problems with mice getting under her hook & chewing on shit. Her caddy's been to the shop at least 5 times to get shit fixed that the little bastards have chewed up; this time it was the injector wires...after 4 new sets of plug wires, all kinds of a mess. I don't want that crap happening to my truck when I get out there & we need to figure something out. Any suggestions? They seem to enjoy moth balls for desert, so that rules them out...there's no wood piles or any old vehicles or anything, they can't get under the house due to the foundation work...I'm at a loss & was wondering if anyone on here has experienced these problems and what was done to remedy it? We don't do the cat thing, so that's out of the options.

Pro Circuits with Porting?
ledofthezep replied to Banshee17Racing's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Yepper. No complaints here. I switched to PC's from toomey on a mild port & I had no issues; hell I didn't even have to re-jet. I do like the PC's better than the toomeys for my style of riding, but there's nothing I can say bad about the toomeys either. You'll be fine. -
Ah hell...just drain the oil & stick a water hose in there, crank that shit on & go watch some TV...a good 30min oughta do the trick.

re-jetting for switching oil
ledofthezep replied to 02bansheerider's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I wouldn't use 20w50 due to how thick it is...may not lube the clutch as well & may make it a bit harder to shift. With my stock clutch I always ran Valvoline 10w30, never tried the high-mileage shizzle though. -
Check out the dude's knee! CLICK HERE Just another video showing how fast a croth-rocket can hand you your ass! But damn they're fun...
-
Yeah...but they're worthy of another post. I'm just waiting for the 'poor little creature'...'if your not going to eat it, don't shoot it'...blahblah replies to start up. 'bout like your raggit slaying post. But anyone who's ever had problems due to those little bastards ought to get a kick out of those vids. I can't tell you how many head of cattle I had to put down due to broken legs from those damn critters' holes all over some pastures.
