Right on Blue...well said. I'm the same way, call me weird; but I kinda enjoy maintaining my rides & am a freak about it. I get bored & look for things to do, and checking if stuff's tight every once in a while--why the hell wouldn't ya? It beats sitting around & drinking beer--at least ya got something to do! hehe And the only shitting thing about mixing gas is having to buy the oil. It doesn't take a rocket scientist or much time. But I now have my banshee, and a '01 400EX for the g/f--got rid of 'her' banshee for it(after I took all the goodies ). I'm happy with the EX, got a good deal & came out on top in the trade, it's a good quad, fun to ride, and what she wanted--predictable power. She'll still ride my banshee for the thrill of it though. I don't know that I'd part with my shee for a thumper, maybe a highly modded YFZ if I get hardcore into MX--but then still I'd probably trade the EX on one and still keep my banshee. Especially on the dunes, it doesn't get much better than a ride on the banshee--the power, adrenaline, sound, & the smell of that exhaust is better than bacon in the morning! Keep your banshee, quit your wine'n, and go ride.

Haha... Know what ya mean... Sounds like you're set on the suspension side of things for the most part....for long races you may look into a stearing stabalizer. I haven't ran one myself so I couldn't tell ya if they're worth the $$, but I see them on a lot of desert racers...As far as the motor, you could look into either getting a new head or save some $$ and mill your stock head to boost your compression a bit. Also, if you're going to be hauling ass across the desert a lot; you could probably adjust your gearing a bit. Keep an eye on this thread, I'm sure more people will throw in their $.02 also.

My bro-in-law works for http://www.huskyliners.com as a designer & he got some of the carbon fiber material they made their dash kits with, I cut it & took off the warning labels on the g/f's EX & put the carbon fiber in its place. Looks trick as hell, a lot better than the warning labels did. Too bad he can't get anymore of the material or I'd have some carbon fiber on the shee.

Yeah,..price & what they told me about them made me go with them over the 9 paddle Xtreme haulers. They were like $168 out the door.

along with XTShee's good post....if your doing long night races, you may want to look into a higher wattage stator & some bigger lights. If you haven't already, you'll proabably want to get rid of the stock shitter tires, at least the rears. And like stated above, get some good suspension...What mods do you have currently?--may help in getting more suggestions.
