Does your girlfriend/wife/partner like your banshee??
boonman replied to sneeky's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I want the complete set!!!!!!!!!  -
That is completely up to you. I was just tellin ya my findings on the matter. You may find some sort of advantage with them... If memory serves me correctly, I believe they are about $30. Definitely not. If you have a dremel, and a little time, you are all set. There is a site somewhere with info and pics, but I do not remember what it was. Someone has posted it here, and I KNOW ScottM has the info. He will sell ya some for $25 I believe the going price was.... Dammit!!! I don't have my bible/service manual with me and I don't remember. I let a friend borrow it to do some work on his bike. SOmeone will let you know hopefully, or you can check out BenBB's page, www.dfn.com/benkaren and look at the jetting faq page. It may be in there....

The stroker crank is a drop in unit, in itself. However, you will need porting to compensate for the longer stroke. For this, I would go to patriot racing. Also, I have a LR crank, I like it. i did feel slight differences in the powerband, it became smoother. I used the 795 pistons from Wiseco, and I don't have a spacer plate. If you have to replace the crank anyways, and can't afford a stroker crank, (they are more expensive than a stock or LR crank) and the porting for the stroker, than the LR is a perfect thing to do. The reduced rod angles will help reduce wear on the top end, and that is a good thing. I however, would NOT use a spacer plate. I do not like extra places for an air leak. That is why Wiseco now has the 795 pistons...... If you have the $$$, then definitely go with the 4mm stroker.

It sounds as though the reeds could be kicked, a clogged or restricted main jet, not enough fuel in the bowl, or the coil connections are bugged up. I had a problem just like that, and the primary wires, (orange and black) were loose. Happened to me a couple times. I have also had a clogged main jet do that, and a cracked reed. Also, a weak stator. A couple things are easy to check. The connections, obviously check those. Make sure they are tight and clean. Then, move on to the reeds. if you aren't running 34+mm size carbs, I recommend that you take the reed spacers out. IMHO they don't do anything. people have tried to prove their worthiness, but I have done my own personal ttesting, and they didn't do a damned thing for my bike. useless in other words. Anyways, pull the reeds out (* the cages) and look to see that they are sealing properly, and there is no wear around the edges. If they are original, I recommend porting the cages, and getting some TDR reeds to go on there. Check your float height on the carbs, and give them a good cleaning while you have them out to get at the reeds.

All the replies on the Toomey setup, this may be something I want to try. I was always afraid of getting water/mud on the filter with it. But I guess this is not a concern....
-
Well, it works well. I like mine, and have heard 0 complaints on it. edit: Bump for everyone that has PM'ed me recently wanting pics on this. $28 will get ya a modded, neutral backcut star.
-
There is a reason for this!! The stock setup is a MAJOR POS!!!! Get at least a proflow plate and some sort of filter ojn there!!!
-
Alright, I want to see what people are running here at the HQ. I have tried to provide and think of all the options. This is an ever going debate, and I want to get to the bottom of it. If you want ot post a reply, that would be sweet!! Maybe tell about why you feel the way you do about what you are running for a filter setup. Maybe also what conditions you ride in. I am running my UNI foam filter in the stock airbox, no lid, with an outerwear, (I feel no matter what you should always run an outerwear). I ride every condition imaginable. Wet, rain, sand, mud, dry, dusty, trails, MX, hare scrambles......... Put it down!!!

If you are so inclined, and have an extremely steady hand. But, if you frig up the radius on the neutral detent, it will be an even more major PITA to find neutral...... The choice is yours..... And yes, a bench grinder can be used. But, make sure everything is square when you round the corners. if they are angled, this will make the cam bearing that rides on the star walk around side to side, and will provide you with premature wear on it's pivot point.....
-
You got it!!!

Alright folks. I finally took the time this go 'round to snap a couple pics of a (factory) shift star on it's way to becoming a "boonman special" star!! Here is a stock star, in all it's glory. And here it is, in it's "modded" state of affairs...... And here is the illustrious neutral backcut... I apologize for the crappy pic on the backcut, but my camera's macro function sucks ass. But you can make out the relief that is there.... If you wish to have your factory star become a "boonie special", y'all know how to get ahold of me.....

LMAO!!! You wouldn't know it, but there was 230 people at that reception!! That place rocked!! There was about 150 still partying when we left at 11:30 to catch our flight. The DJ played 3 hours for free, (because I guess he was having a good time) and the bar was open the whole night. it was a helluva party. Unfortunately, we had an agreement that we wouldn't wear any cake, because we wouldn't have time to clean up... Long story. We had fun anyways.... Here's a couple more pics.. Putting her in...... And getting her out......... And the "Huge" wedding party!! Anyways, all the pics I have on imagestation of us/her is only those. Like I said, I will try to get some other than just wedding pics..... -

I searched high and low for a pic, and couldn't find one of just her... But here is one of my wife, unfortunately I am also in the pic, but disregard that. I will try and sneak a "candid" shot of her...... -

I will have to wait for Satan to buy that parka that Holyman describes before I can get a pic of my wife in a bikini, let alone near the shee. We'll see..... :? -

I went with the GTO. Just because I had to. -
I don't run it, I run VP, and I would NEVER run Aviation fuel. That's my $.40 worth..

I have seen the 450. I haven't ridden one, but I witnessed it hand several other bikes their ass on the way by when it LAPPED them at the track. Get the 450 if you plan on racing. if you want to mess around and have fun, get the banshee.....

If it cost me a nickle to shit, I'd have to fart......

Hey, I know how to really juice these things up!!! They call me...... Morpheus....

I think it would be a good idea. To eliminate some of the FAQ's that are asked in the forum. Maybe upon signing up with a new screen name, the first forum they should be re-directed to is the FAQ. It could save alot of space with the redundant questions.... :?

I was at the local track, running TT this particular day, and there was a brand new 450 running in the pro class. Everyone else has "TT" bbikes in that class. Sway bars, Hoosiers, and lots of power. This "clown" rolls up on the line withhis bone stock 450, stock tires, suspension at stock height, and the run. Let me tell you, it was an eye opening experience. The 450 SMOKED everything and everyone on the track. There was no comparison. He had 3/4 of a lap on everyone else in the field. I have never seen aything else like it. If I had the $$$$ to pony up on one of them, I would surely have one. I will never get rid of my shee, well, maybe to get a new or different one but them 450's are damned fast. And they don't even have close to the power of their MX bike motor derived friend. By something like 10-15 horse if I remember correctly. This is out of the box of course. But the motor in the YFZ is NOT the motor that is in the MX bike. It still doesn't matter. At 350 lbs. and the HP it does have out of the box makes it a killer. it will be interesting to see how things progress as more and more people get on these machines.......
