And, seeing the type of people that typically work for government agencies............. I have a hard time believing any brand would survive. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

You guys are talking pickups, Laeger specifically said medium duty cab and chassis 450/550 or 4500/5500 stuff. GM hasn't made anything over a 3500 in 6 years so they don't even enter into this conversation. I really don't give 2 fucks who buys them or what brand they are. The overwhelming majority of places I work THAT ACTUALLY USE THEIR TRUCKS FOR WORK DAILY choose Ford. And I'm not talking about just government agencies. Most of the people I'm around are farmers, heavy construction, mining, quarries, and underground utilities. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

You buy that 450 in Seattle? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Fuel prices are real good. I just bought a big tank to keep here at my place. 1,000 gallons for $2,000. That's cheap. kinda wish I had a bigger bulk tank honestly. Probably should contract a couple more thousand gallon fillups. Imma go do that. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Meh. If I keep it I need to buy a newer one for work and park this one. I don't have to sell it. Haven't had much serious interest in it. Def not giving it away. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

See 450 haul tools. See 450 haul boat. See 450 haul bitches. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Well then, these 450's are about as cheap as it gets for a nice towing rig. I'd put mine up against any toter/hauler pulling a load up to 20k lbs. Hook the big boat up, set the cruise on 80, crank up the tunes, open the sunroof and roll on homie. Only thing wrong with mine is Tyler claims it has a tire out of balance. It does. I just leave it like that to watch any passenger boobies wiggle. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Don't buy a newer truck just because your buddies have one. That's high school bullshit. But if you're going to. Jussayin. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/5358691615.html Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

By the way, the manifolds and labor for that came to $1300. No way I'd try to doing it myself when it's that cheap to do. They had it done in a day. In hindsight, I probably would've had them put head studs in while the cab was off if I were to do it again.

Here's what putting manifolds on a 6.4 looks like. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Ok, so first of all, when someone says "they're fucking junk" ask them their experience with the one THEY owned and THEY drove daily and THEY paid the repair bills on. People with 2nd hand opinions and knowledge piss me the fuck off. 9,000 is cheap, buy the fucker. My number 1 complaint is the horrific fuel mileage that seems to go along with the 450's and 550's. I didn't see that you posted what model you're looking at but if it's a single rear wheel you could easily get 16mpg or more out of it. I think I've had pretty good luck with mine overall, much better than some. i.e. Laeger. I love the way it looks, I love the way it drives, I love the interior. It pulls awesome. Hell it runs awesome, but it just gulps the fucking fuel. I've fought a stupid sensor issue lately but finally figured out it was the harness going to a totally unrelated sensor. I have a hard time believing the one you're looking at hasn't had some sort EGR work done like coolers replaced or valve replaced. I deleted all that crap off mine but even when you remove it the factory manifold pipes are still there and mine didn't last 2 weeks after removing the EGR system. So I had BD manifolds and up pipes installed which does require pulling the cab. However, anyone who's done it before and has a lift can have the cab off, the job done, and the cab back on a lot quicker than it used to be with the old trucks. The shop I use can have them off in 40 minutes. The chassis' are great, there's not even an argument there. Hands down the toughest pickups IMO. But the 6.4 was doomed from birth. They're a damn good engine -- once you remove ALL the emissions stuff, once they're tuned, and sometimes once you replace the pistons that were cast with the mold line in line with the wrist pin and they break in half. Other than that they're great!! It really comes down to what you're gonna do with it. The delete is easy. If you plan on doing anything besides changing the oil or belts, the cab has to come off. Mine's for sale due to the fact that I ruin the value of vehicles and the poor fuel economy just irritates the fuck out of me. Even pulling for work everyday I think it should be getting at least 11 or 12. Mine has 154k on it now and if I keep it another year it'll have over 200k so I think from a financial standpoint it's a good time to sell. I have been looking at Dodge 45 and 5500's because they're also very nice and when it comes to the heavier trucks the chassis are all basically the same and the Dodge's are WAY cheaper. Not sure what your plans are for it but it'll be a way better truck than that manual 6.0. Or as my friend Tyrel Thadeus Beaumont Clark says, "buy new, bitches love new shit"

You forgot to put a "1" in front of your $400. Hell I can blow through $200 in my little boat if I run hard all day. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

They were both the big wide beam cruisers though. Room for the family plus a family type of deal. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Not really. I've been on 2. 1 of which towed me to the ramp. Lol. Nice mofos. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

For the record- my 450 is out making me money today while I'm fucking off in KC all day with the fam. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

It's durability is impressive. It's traction vs. a Ranger Crew is pitiful. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

I guess I thought it was a dually. Either way, a bullet proofed 6.0 with a 6 speed manual is always gonna be worth money. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

JFC this is 1st grade math. Spend 6 or 7k on the truck you already own if that's what it takes and use it to pull whatever giant boat you buy. Simple as that. If it's only got 160k on it in another 10 years it'll still be worth $12k. Zero sense in buying a new truck to drive 6,000 miles a year and lose 25k of equity in the next 10 years. I have no idea on that stuff. I'm really not all that up to speed on newer gassers. I'd say it'll be a good truck with few problems if you just service it and leave the oversize loads to the big trucks. lol
-
You've got quite a few options really. Just depends on what you want to spend and what you do with the truck.

Just so everyone knows, here's what I use year round. I buy it in a 1 gallon jug. That jug will treat 1,000 gallons of fuel. Normally it's $90 a gallon but sometimes I catch it on sale. $90 a gallon sounds expensive but do the math. If your truck holds 30 gallons of fuel and you treat it every tank. It costs you roughly $2.70 per tank to treat it. That makes it cheaper than a lot of other additives, plus you're going to save more than that in economy and buying fewer failed parts anyhow. Some guys notice a difference in economy, honestly I can't say I have. But my fuel filters are always clean, it starts up every single time in sub zero temps whether it's been plugged ion or not, and it runs damn good. I'm not the best specimen to try and figure MPG's for though either. Lol. Always loaded, drags that trailer through fields, always in a hurry, blah blah blah https://www.bgprod.com/catalog/diesel-fuel-system/bg-dfc-plus-hp/

I should clarify, you don't have to run the stuff with cold weather protection year round, they make a few different options and at least 1 or 2 of them are just for warm climate, meaning it has all the properties for cleaning and lubrication, just not cold weather protection.
