Mine would stick everytime I washed it, and the last time(probably coincidence), after I washed it, and went to start it, before pulling the choke, I took a paper towel, and dried off all the water from around the choke knob and outer dust seal. It did'nt stick at all, and was the first time it did'nt after being wet.

The Real Science About Boost Bottles
blk02banshee replied to Holyman's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Good info Exactly what I was thinking...it might do somehting, maybe a small, un-noticeable gain, but not likely. If you think it looks cool, RUN IT. Is it worth anything performance-wise....probably not. -

It's hard to believe that they would stop production on the banshee. It's still a great selling quad and my local yamaha shops are saying they sell more banshees than any other ATV. If they want to quit making banshees, so be it. The banshee is the only yamaha I'd ever own, and if there's no banshee, then I don't buy yamaha. -
15" ?!!!!! holy crap dude! I need some skis now.

cool. how well do the geckos work in the snow?

Man, of all the stupid things I could do... I had the whole cooling system drained, because I put in a pro design impeller today, and totally forgot about the inline cooler. It woulda been so easy to throw it on there. Oh well, it's winter time anyway.

You are a little lean on the low end. All you need to do, is turn your airscrews in a little. Since it's used, I'd turn both screws (the little ones on the left side of each carb) all the way in, until seated, then turn them out 1 full turn and try it.

The low end is the first thing I noticed. Before the reeds, I could'nt get a happy medium between low end take off and mid range. It always seemed like when I come down off the pipes and get back in it, the power was'nt there, and once the pipes came back on, it was like a lightswitch. Now, it's got a wider powerband and seems to come on right from takeoff. I can't wait to give it a real test.

First off, I just installed my v-force delta 2s, and from my short test ride in my yard, I gotta say they're fugging awsome. much, much better! I've heard horror stories about carbon fiber reed petals breaking off, and was wondering if anyone else had that happen. Also, how often do I need to change the petals? MY buddy at the yamaha shop gave my an inline water cooler, and I was wondering where's the best location for it, and which hose would be best to install it in? do they do much, or should I just say fugg it and throw it in a box in the garage?

Mine vibrates bad, too. It's only at lower RPMs, but it's so bad, that when I rev it, and the Rs come down, the handlebars look like a blur. It blows all my lights, too! I noticed it when I had my lights on, and was waiting for my buddy to catch up, and revved it a couple times, and on the second rev, when the Rs came down, the light burned out at the peak vibration. At high RPMs it is smooth as can be. It did that ever since it was new, but it seems to have gotten worse.

I buy mine straight from mikuni. GO HERE:mikuni and click on "distributers" at the left. It'll list all the places that you can get the right jets. THe pilot style you need, is M28/1001

What Was You First Time Like?
blk02banshee replied to ninjamaster's topic in General Banshee Discussion
If I can find another in good condition I'll probably get me another. I miss mine. my girlfriend is thinking about selling hers when she gets a new quad. The first time I saw the banshee, was in 1988. I was with some friends on vacation, and saw a few of them. I wanted one ever since. I saved and saved, and in '93, I still could'nt afford the banshee, so I got a blaster. The first time I rode one, I was cruising down a trail on my blaster, when some guys pulled up on a banshee, and asked where I ride, so I said"follow me", and headed down the road wide open. Next thing I know, they pull up next to me on a wheelie, for a minute, then took off again like I was standing still...on a wheelie! I was like DAM!. When we got to the riding spot, the guy asked me if I wanted to ride it, and of course I said YEP. I went around the track, hit the powerband a couple times, and fell in love. I had to have one. After a few years and dozens of loan applications, I finally got mine. Better late than never, I guess -
here's a link to some more info: Thunder products-UFO They have them for the stock banshee carbs, too.
-
I've never used one, but I'm sure it would at least help some. Also, STEEL handlebars might help a little too, if he does'nt already have them. Aluminum is more rigid, and transmits more vibration and shock to your hands.

It's for stealth operations at the local golf course and/or sod farm lol JK

I'm stumped, too. I replaced my bulbs 3 times, and the just keep going out. I noticed that I lose the low beams first, then 1 high beam, then the other. When I lost the last high beam, I had the RPMs high, and went through a bunch of little ruts, like a washboard. I think that it's just that the new halogen bulbs they put in the banshees since 2002, can't handle the vibration and bumps.
-
oops

I agree. CHECK THE BULBS. I went through my wiring six times before I realised my bulbs were blown. YES, all 3, including the high beams and brake light.

I've been running yamalube 2r at 28:1 for 2 years, and no problems.

that reminds me of the time one of my friends was trying to start his '79 RM250. it would run for a few seconds, and die, so he tried pulling it with a car, and it locked up. We took the motor off, put it on the bench, I was lifting the jug, when all of us (6 or 7) gasped and everyones eyes got real big....we saw these strange looking balls about 3/4 inch in diameter. Tons of them, packed in every inch of the crankcase, under the piston, in the ports, crushed up in the crank. after a few minutes of wonder, we figured out it was DOGFOOD. lmfao we cleaned it all out, washed the entire thing out with simple green, and it's been running ever since.
