  1. I've cleaned carbs, replaced all jetting one size over stock new plugs tested all electrical changed reed gaskets put new carb boots on took off the pipes to make sure they were clear of oil or crud, all that seems fine

  4. So the left pipe doesn't get nearly as hot as the right and barely smokes. Also lacks power. Crank or piston ?
  5. And how much do you figure a new crank would cost ?

Alright so my sure has been all tweaked and fixed properly, carbs are good and all electric problems have been fixed, BUT at certain RPM's it seems to be suckin in air somewhere around the crank and it revs out of control. Could this be as simple as a gasket or a crank seal ? Or the crank it's self
  7. I hate to say it but when you clean the carbs you really should blow all the passageways out with compressed air. If your like me and don't own a compressor goto the gas station and use the tire pump. It works just as well
  8. X2 on the rad cap. I remember drivin my truck up the mountains in West Virginia and she blew rad fluid all over. I needed a higher pressure cap to handle the atmosphere. Sounds crazy I know

  10. Just so ya know. Don't put to much thought into it. All anti freeze does is not let the water freeze. It's the water that cools your engine. You can run straight water in te summer time if you wanted. Keep it simple dude

  12. I run Prestone 50/50 pre mix. The green shit in all my engines, truck, sled, quad. Hasn't failed me yet
  13. I'm pretty new to reeds so I won't answer that. But you should run B8ES plugs, those are stock, I would also run regular 87 octane with synthetic oil at 50:1. Also check to make sure you did the TOR delete properly. I know I had to double check mine. When you cleaned the carbs did you blow out all the holes with compressed air ? And did you use new main jets or old ones ? If they were old throw em away and get new ones

  17. It's in his hands now, I'm just curios what it could be and why might need to be replaced and what it would cost. Does the engine need to be pulled and rebuilt ?
  18. Mechanic tuned up the quad but apperently it gets warn and shuts down after high revving, he suspects it's sucking air from somewhere around the crank case area...thoughts ?
  19. Could be yea. Change it and find out. Or use a pop can and some band straps
  20. ^^^ x2 Heat cycling isn't necessary, I read a very good article about breaking in a new 2 stroke top end. Run it a little richer and drive it like you stole it. That's it!
